WP: Analytics vs StatPress vs AwStats vs Statcounter?

Which is better for tracking visitors?

I'm a bit confused and don't know where to look. Google Analytics shows that there were 3 unique visitors yesterday. Statpress [plugin] says 64. AwStats [CPanel] says 49, and Statcounter says 8.

I've never really thought about it and maybe I'm having a brain freeze, but I can't comprehend what's going on. A moment of enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

I 'm using Statpress right now, what I can't tell you is that you have do disable the spider visit count to see the real stats on your site.

Just pop statpress into your site and compare it to analytics. You are definitely going to notice the difference.

AwStats is not good, is based on the Apache's logs whici stores also the spiders visits

From what I've seen, stat accuracy goes in this order:

Anything that uses your server logs (awstats, etc.) > Google Analytics > StatCounter > anything else > StatPress

I checked the stats for one of my blogs for yesterday. Nginx's logs claim 192 unique non-spider visits, Google Analytics claims 190, StatCounter claims 220, and StatPress claims 978 unique visitors with 10,559 pages loaded.

I only use StatPress so I can quickly see what people are searching for when they find the site (65% organic search traffic) and which referrers they're coming from.

Personally i use goingup which is an amazing plugin it is just like awstats detects pretty much everything which happens on your site but i actually prefere it more to awstats. If you havn't already tried it i do reccomend you checking it out you won't regret it.

Analytics is the only one that is accurate. Statpress is total bs don't believe any of those figures they are for boosting your ego only. Awstats is also kinda crappy.

I will say that piwik is so much better than ganalytics in terms of privacy and very close to accuracy

Statpress differentiates between unique visitors and spiders, but AwStats does not.

Piwik looks very nice, but how much different is it compared to Analytics? [in terms of recorded visits] Most people recognize Analytics and it's easier to sell your site with it.
I'm skeptical about Analytics though. The site does not have Adsense on it, purely Amazon, and I think they use it to promote Adwords by showing lower results than what actually exists.

I've the trackers from the original post into 5 different blogs, and they still read differently. The bad part is that there is no standard of reading visitors. I guess I'll go with Analytics & Statpress.

statpress give irrelevant stats...and it willmake blog run more slow...so better avoid on inner wp stat...u can use web base stat like statcounter, sitemeter and so on...

analytics is ok but i don't like google base stat because fear than can detect something unnatural from my autoblog stat...

I agree it does slow things down a bit, but the stats are relevant. Such as where the clicks come from and what search term they used, but so does every other tracker. I just don't understand where the number differentiation is coming from. My best interpretation would be the bots and visit length is calculated differently.

Anyway, the end result is what matters in the affiliate/publisher account, and what they record is what I'll have to go with.

So do you all agree analytics is not a good idea on say:

a group of autoblogs?

I am split on my decision - as for example, I'm using G's webmaster tools anyway?

Do you think that they're gonna penalise you by looking over your analytics?

I'd say if you're evenly splitting the accounts up then you'd be okay?

Or is this just about finding BETTER tracking?

I think I'm the only one using StatCounter.

I like it better than Analytics, StatPress, Awstats, etc. It's the simplest and easiest to use website tracker in my opinion. If you're having doubts with Analytics, I suggest you try using StatCounter.
