It’s me again with another free guide.

I’ve written a couple guides here before that people found somewhat useful so with us being in the full swing of the crypto bull market I think it’s time to drop a little knowledge to the BHW community about how to launch a memecoin (specifically on Solana).

There’s a lot of BS being pushed out there on this topic so here’s a simple but informative free guide on how to launch a memecoin on Sol and hopefully crush it!

In this guide I’ll cover ideation, planning, launch and next steps after.

Again, this is a high level guide covering the basics but I hope some of you find value in it. I’ve been in this space for a while and this guide might save you some mistakes along the way in your journey.

How to decide on what to launch?

This really depends on what your goals are. If you plan on being a farmer, building only tier1 stuff, etc…

But simply explained the best way to decide on what to launch is to follow a few tricks:

  1. follow the meta. If you see cute animals being launched and sending, this is probably a good indicator to follow that trend.
  2. Target key dates on the calendar. A good little trick is to look ahead on what’s coming ahead in the year and building out a project/narrative that fits it… we launched something around the election for example that was planned weeks ahead.
  3. Time major news events. If you think Trump might fire someone or release someone from jail that is crypto related (free hint) - time a project around that.
  4. Take a look back at internet memes that haven’t been exploited yet and build a narrative around them.
  5. Copy launch something that does well on another chain.
  6. Be creative. Thought of a narrative (concept) that would appeal to internet culture or crypto twitter (CT)? Avoid meta chasing and launch something unique that will resonate.
  7. Keyword / trend chasing on social. This cycle has changed the game slightly… trends on TikTok are now becoming memes in crypto land. If you see something popping off on TikTok or trending in general, be the first to the punch to design a meme around it.

What do you need asset wise to launch?

Just like above (and will be a trend here) this really depends on what your goals are.

If you’re just looking to farm launch a quick trend on Pump Fun… you can probably get away sometimes without a website or a Telegram; but for the sake of a beginners guide I’ll explain the basics of what’s needed and when.

Assets in general that are needed:

  1. Character. Whether it’s photoshop, still image or an illustrated character, you will always need a PFP type image for your meme.
  2. Banner image. For both your DexScreener (will explain later) and for your X/Twitter page.
  3. Website. Typically you will want a simple 1 pager style site which links to your socials and TG. Don’t make it overly informative, no one cares. A good trick is to go look at hot memecoins that are ripping around the time you’re looking to launch and check out their site and use it as a reference.
  4. Telegram stickers. Anywhere from 15 to 50 animated and regular stickers are needed to launch a proper memecoin project that isn’t a quick farm. Again, reference other memecoin projects to simplify this process for you.
  5. Telegram Buy Bot. I’ll explain more later what this is but you will need a gif file for this. Again (and again) reference other projects buy bot gifs to see what to make.
  6. Custom emoji’s. Self explanatory.
  7. Memes for social. A quick trick here is to just add backgrounds to all of the stickers you made. This will give you simple and good quality content efficiently. I also do recommend a teaser video if it’s in budget.
  8. TikTok / IG. Sometimes, yes. But this is for more advanced launches and I would recommend only focusing on telegram / X for now.

Telegram

For some really quick cooks you won’t always need all/any of these but I would recommend having all 3 ready for 90% of launches.

To save time in this guide I’d recommend watching a YouTube video on how to build out a Telegram (TG) for a memecoin launch but make sure it’s properly done with a portal, safeguards, raids and also has your buy bot set up as well.

Mods:

Make sure you have at least 1 mod around in every timezone so that your TG looks and feels active. Sounds dumb but half of their role should be to just be a hype man saying /TO_THE_MOON and making puns off of your project name. Vibes are everything in this space.

Website

As mentioned above, the site should be a simple 1 pager that follows whatever the current meta is. Use current projects as a reference always. Link the CA (once live) and also socials.

X / Twitter

Dropping a short animated video is always a good idea right at launch to show that you’ve put in some real effort behind your project.

A blue check mark is ideal but don’t worry too much about a gold one. Lots of farms use them for clout and then rug so people are wary of them sometimes.

Posting cadence depends on engagement but typically you want a relatively high cadence right at launch and then depending on your token success you want to taper off slowly to a more steady pace over time.

Raids:

Make sure your telegram mods raid your posts and also posts that relate to you often through your telegram. You can set up raid bots quite easily.

You can also bring in outside raid teams that are quite effective. I will not personally endorse any but make sure if you want to work with one that you properly vet them.

I’ll leave the X section quite general because frankly I’ve seen so many different styles be successful but the absolute must do’s are to:

  1. post your CA once you launch
  2. Raid posts
  3. Stay active
  4. Get a blue check mark once you can
  5. Post good memes
  6. Repost KOLs who hype up your token if that happens

Where to launch your project?

We’ve got the website, the narrative, the name, the ticker… it’s all ready to go.

Where do we launch it?

Let’s just keep it simple, as of November 2024 there isn’t a better way to launch your token than Pump Fun.

Easy to deploy and you will get organic volume on there if you deploy it correctly.

You can deploy it straight to raydium yourself but… you’ll mess up. So just launch it on Pump Fun and try and get it to bond.

Again, if you don’t know what Pump Fun is or what “bonding” means, watch a YouTube video on it. They will do a better job than I will explaining it.

How to launch?

Here is where I’ll give you some secret sauce…

Again, methods are always changing but as of November 2024 I would recommend launching the following way:

Use a bundler but use one that doesn’t appear on bubble maps.

Don’t do a standard bundle. Back in the day (a few months ago lol) the move was to bundle 85%+ of supply and then to DCA and mm yourself.

Nowadays, I recommend doing a smaller bundle of 20% and then manually sniping the rest up so you have around 50% or so of supply. More is ok but be careful.

The initial bundle will make sure no snipers grab the bottom and then have 4 wallets with 3 more wallets copy trading each one loaded up with between 0.8 - 1.2 SOL in each wallet. Make sure the amounts are different in each wallet. You can use Trojan wallet and then set up copy trading on the 3 wallets.

This will allow you to snipe up the remaining amount you need and you are less likely to get fudded by bundling 80%+ in one shot.

The reality is you need control of supply to actually keep the project healthy.

Another good technique is to launch and not grab much supply at all. Let the snipers eat it up and then let the project die. Once the project is dead you can buy up all of the supply with multiple wallets and do what’s called a “CTO”.

Again, to keep this guide relatively short I’ll leave it there but you can research these terms or maybe I’ll do another guide on just bundling and CTO’s. It’s a rabbit hole haha.

What makes a memecoin do well?

No one likes to say it but the reality is 99% of people buy a token based on how the chart is + the narrative. That’s it.

So after you launch your project you have to make sure that you market make (MM) your token to give yourself liquidity to hold up floors and also print into the chart when needed.

After the initial surge post-launch you want to sell off slightly into the volume so you have capital on hand to keep the chart looking healthy.

It goes without saying but higher highs and higher lows are what people want to see.

Make sure to capitalize on your initial volume surge at launch so you can mm your own project.

If you have the funds, an external mm can be a great option but isn’t cheap.

How do you get that initial volume? Well, if you bundle and snipe correctly you should hopefully land yourself on King of the Hill which should give you some organic traction. Another great way to get initial push is to leverage KOLs to get hype building quickly.

KOLs

In crypto land every influencer calls themselves a KOL (key opinion leader). It means the same thing but just so you sound like you know what you’re talking about, use that term…

This is a tricky section. To be frank, we have an active JV about KOLs so I’ll be honest here and say I am probably biased but in my opinion there isn’t a better way to guarantee the success of your project than to get hype early with KOL calls and also pushing in TG channels.

Ignoring my JV, however… it’s not that hard to get a hold of KOLs yourself.

All good KOLs have a KOL admin or assistant that they will reference on their X or TG that you can contact to discuss your upcoming or current project. They will most likely get back to you.

Just like anything else in life, persistence is key. Keep reaching out and if you have a quality project, you will lock in deals!

The trick with KOLs is to actually have them post. All good KOLs protect their brands strongly and will not just post any project that pays them.

You have to work hard to build trust with them before your launch and also get a clear understanding of when and how they will call your token.

I recommend making a KOL admin group on tg and filling it with all of your KOL’s you have partnered with pre-launch so they see who else is involved, it will help make them feel more comfortable. No KOL likes to be the only one calling.

To pay them, it really depends on budget. If you have the money, I would always recommend focusing more on giving them sol instead of a lot of your supply. The reason being they will just sell off into the volume they create which will dramatically impact your token pump.

Tier 1 KOLs aren’t cheap, expect to pay 50 sol or so per.

Tier 2 and 3 KOLs are much, much cheaper. 20 SOL and down to 2-3 sol per.

If you’re very tight, you can often get KOLs for 1% of your supply but they will most likely need to see your chart before agreeing to that.

The secret sauce of KOLs isn’t just the call groups, however. If KOLs love your project, having them talk about it and post in their small alpha chats can be incredibly powerful.

Volume bots

Not going to use any examples here but they are quite easy to find.

Highly recommended you use a volume bot and a good one to give your project consistent volume.

The chart and volume is almost everything.

Dex Screener

Make sure you have your Dex filled out pre launch and right once you bond you should pay for this.

To keep this guide short… Google what it is, quite self explanatory.

I also do recommend using boosts on Dex if you have the budget for it.

Selling your token

Beyond explaining the importance of collecting some profits at the beginning of your launch to have capital to healthily mm your token, I’m going to leave this section quite blank.

Whatever you choose to do with this knowledge is up to you.

I recommend always being responsible and ethical about how you launch tokens. Never rug. Never make promises or statements about the price of your token going up.

Ethics matter, even in crypto. When I say sell off slightly into the initial volume, I mean slightly (10% or less). This is only to create working capital to sustain the health of a project; not to dump on everyone’s heads as they buy it. Impacting the chart negatively should never be a goal as the dev team.

if you choose to take this knowledge and create a rug farm… I don’t endorse you whatever haha. Be responsible.

The end and some basic tips

I hope you found this useful in some ways. There is a lot to cover and I’m sure for the pros out there this all seems super basic but I know for a lot of beginners it can be really intimidating. As far as my JV, please ignore it. The reality is, if you found this thread useful you are probably not the right partners for us haha. But I hate how people gate-keep knowledge and I want all of you to give this a shot!

Just remember to start small and build your way up. I’d really recommend launching with a team. It’s really hard to snipe supply, mm, Dex, tg, post on x and talk to KOLs at once all by yourself.

Try this with a few friends and give everyone a role before launching. It will take off a lot of pressure.

Good luck guys

Very good info. How do you go about the development part?

Awesome guide, really, curious about next wave, what's the next step after the coin is dead?

you’re welcome man.

You can run a CTO with your token after if you want.

I know a team that ran a CTO on the same token 3 times in a day haha. Don’t recommend it but…

Great guide. Founds lots of usefully info about KOLs in particular

Good tip! Wanted to know , where to see landing page demo’s or similar websites to check the design?

Glad to hear it was useful man.

Go on dexscreener and check out successful recent projects websites. Should give you some solid references to work off of.

I have been thinking about launching a memecoin for a while. I think this post might be it for me to actually do it. I have experimented a little with pumpfun but that's about it. Thanks for the detailed guide
