Considering Switching from Cloudways to Krystal – Seeking User Experiences

I've been using Cloudways (DigitalOcean) for several years, and up until a few months ago, everything was running smoothly. However, since they implemented a new antivirus/firewall system, I've been encountering constant issues. On top of that, the quality of support has noticeably declined lately.

I've heard that Krystal offers good hosting plans and uses LiteSpeed, which I understand has some performance advantages. Does anyone here have experience using Krystal? Is it worth making the switch? I'd appreciate any insights or feedback on reliability, support quality, and overall experience with Krystal.

Get a VPS, install aaPanel & use OLS, it's basically the same,
I always recommend Contabo, they have decent specs for really cheap prices, don't except any tech support tho

I'm looking for something that is supported and Cloudways style because I don't have a lot of VPS management experience or time. Is Hostinger good?

I get the frustration with Cloudways! Sometimes when they roll out new things like the firewall, issues can pop up. As for Krystal, I’ve heard good things, especially with their use of LiteSpeed which really helps with performance. If you're looking for something faster and more stable, it could be a solid switch.

The support, from what I know, is pretty good too, although I haven't personally tried it. If you're thinking about making the move, maybe start with alower tier plan and see how it goes!

If I was in your place I would actually login to the vps (you said digitalocean. They gave you ssh access right?) first and check what is causing the issues. Are your cpu cores running at 100%? Are you out of disk space? Is the RAM enough?

Even if you switched to another provider, unless you measure what the current stats are and what hardware you need, you will never be able to solve the problem efficiently.

Also, why do you need an antivirus? Just as a “good to have” thing or did your sites get infected? Servers usually don’t need an antivirus unless you have lots of user uploads, in which case you should probably isolate the uploads from the main scripts anyway, and implement proper permissions to stop script execution.

Everything started when they installed Imunify360 on all the servers, and they don’t let you disable it. Every time I notice high CPU usage, it’s due to that. They claim the solution is to restart the server, but it never really fixes the underlying issue.

Ah so you need more cores. You don’t really need an antivirus software to be honest. You just need someone to configure your server properly, like with docker or something. How many cores do you have btw? What is the traffic?

Yeah, I might need more cores, but the issue is that they don’t allow me to disable that antivirus. The server is a VPS, but they manage it. I’ll keep investigating for now, but I might end up switching providers if it doesn’t improve. Anyway, with the same traffic, I didn’t have any issues before they installed that antivirus.

Makes sense.

Perhaps look into unmanaged VPSes. It is a little less intuitive, but in the long run you will end up saving a lot of money. You could just get it from Digitalocean themselves.

I have a client using CloudWays and I'm not happy with them to say the least. Considering HostArmada but haven't tested them yet.
Now is the time to switch by the way. BF offers are really good.

Exactly, that’s why I’m considering ScalaHosting because of the price they offer for a year, but I can’t find reviews from real users, haha.
