never dealt with vids SEO but I'm wasting a good few hours a day on YT, and what I've noticed or heard from people who do YT for a living is that publishing frequency and consistency matters (YT, therefore Google, need content for their retarded AI, so they want to keep all content creators churning out content 24/7, which is why "the algorithm" will reward those who pump out video after video, preferably several times a day, but at least once a week at minimum), then you might get favored by the algorithm...
Also, engagement seems to be a big part of the SEO, just watch every consistent content creator with how they beg for likes, subscribers, commenting and sharing their content, all-the-while blasting you in the face with those retarded "like and subscribe" icons that pop up while you watch the video.
Many of these content creators hate these things just as us, the viewers, but they're probably forced to do it in order to keep their videos being recommended, so this tells me that engagement is big part of SEO for Youtube...
Also yes, having detailed (and I'm assuming also optimized like regular blog posts) descriptions will help too, otherwise I don't know why all of these people that are so busy making videos still take the time to write an entire blog post in the descriptions of their videos. Well, I know why: it's because google wants to keep the entire planet slaving their lives away to keep a few psychopatic shareholders at google rich, that's why... But hey, if you willingly AND knowingly choose your fate who am I to bash you for it? At least the money's coming in, so that makes it worthwhile
So yeah, these should probably be your focuses to SEO your videos:
- uploading frequency and consistency (once a week I've heard is the minimum, the more the better of course, but if you can't keep up the multiple times a week schedule stick to once a week and it should keep the imbecile algorithm continuing to recommend you to others)
- engagement (likes, subscribes and comments mostly, but also view time, I think I've heard some people mention that view time matters, if your videos are watched start to finish it will be better for you)
- optimized descriptions
So, these 3 are probably the biggest factors that impact the success of your vids / channels, but to these I would also add the video thumbnails. I keep seeing content creators saying that they need to make a good thumbnail for their videos, so I'm assuming that good thumbnail = good CTR = good engagement = good video = more popularity for your videos / channels. Probably that's how the retarded algorithm "thinks", so you should waste even more time making the damn thumbnails to be funny / interesting / controversial to catch as many flies like me into your net because I do fall for interesting thumbnails a lot
