hey guys, so i own this FB group with 81K+ members
age range from 16-25
location mostly US

i know i could start events and all that, but whats the best way to monetize groups?

im not asking of what i could promote on it.

thnx

I was going to say create an Event, but you already covered that. Since you can no longer mass message the members, I guess you could try posting status updates. I personally would go with an Event however.

You could also promote your group with an Ad, but I am not sure what your group pertains to and/or if it would even be accepted by FB Ads.

Are you talking about an actual group then, or are you getting mistaken with a page?

There isn't much you can do with a group. Maybe make a "Note", and post some links or some kind of offer there. Not much you can do - Fanpages are the way forward :)

Ah, notes. Good suggestion Peter! I totally forgot about them! I also agree fan pages are the way forward. However, Facebook seems to monitor groups less than they do fan pages, but this is only to be expected because as Peter stated, there is a lot more you can do with a fan page rather than a group.

in your note section you could have a link to a new fan page and get everyone to join the fan page for your group and then you can mass message etc once there on your fanpage that is..

Good point, however you can only send "updates" to the fans of your page(s). There is a big difference because "updates" do not land in their inbox. Instead, they land in the "updates" subfolder.

I never actually thought about promoting a fan page using a groups note - Its a pretty good idea. Even if you just had the link to the fanpage when people arrived on the group, maybe they would think that they have to click the link as the group is "the wrong page" etc ;)

Maybe, but either way I think you pointed out something quite unique. :)

if a have a big fan page and i do status update for members join other fan page, can i get the fan page deleted?

thanks for the replies ppl :) appreciated.

No im deffinitely not confusing fanpage for a group and yes i knwo fanpages are the way forward.
I like the idea of posting notes to drive people to a fan page, will give that a go. :)
