Hey,

New to proxies and scraping. The scraper says you should use proxies.

Looking at smartproxy [which seems a recommended service - of the bigger ones]

If I pay per GB it's 2GB a month $14

If I pay per IP it's 25 IPs for $12.50 a month

2GB a month $14

How much is 2GB, when being used to scrape google/websites for emails? I have no clue how much use you would get, and whether it will go over and you'd either get charged for more - or have to wait until the next month

25 IPs for $12.50 a month

Does that mean unlimited? So, I can use them all month - as much as I want. I guess I have 25 so I can switch them around [rest some] - so they are less likely to get banned?

Any advice on what I've written above - would be awesome.

I'm likely to use the scraper a lot - for some periods... and then maybe not so much for others. So I could be a heavy user for a while - and then maybe have some weeks or even a month off.

I feel like from my logic - that the 25 IPs are the best way to go. Are their draw backs - I mean those IPs will be shared... so I doubt you'd need to rest them. I don't know how many IPs you need for a scraper. Maybe I'll have 24 unused each month.

Previous IPs I've bought [for mailing] have not really worked for Google - as they wouldn't open most websites. But I guess the smartproxy ones being residential will work as 'normal'

Thanks for any help

You can use Semi or Dedicated proxies from data center for scraping as well or Static Residential proxies.

Don't go with GB based usually it cost high for scraping purpose.

Ok. But without an idea of cost - that doesn't help me decide

At the moment I'm looking towards smartproxys
25 IPs for $12.50 a month

Would dedicated proxies be cheaper? Better?

And semi dedicated seems an oxymoron.

I think - you are right GB based is a nightmare option.

Thanks for your help

You want to scrape G serp results or something else?

"You want to scrape G serp results or something else?"

No clue.

Maybe I do, maybe I don't - I have no clue what that is. Sorry for my ignorance.

I can explain what I want to do. I want to use GSA Genie.

And I just want to type in [for example] "hairdressers" in "London, UK" and for it to look at websites [or what ever it does] and bring me a load of relevant email addresses.

Nothing else.

I just want an email list

Why can you use cheap datacenter proxies for scraping but not for automating+posting on IG? Using anything less than mobile proxies for automating+posting seems to get all pages banned quick. Why not with scrapers too?

Okay got it .

Then Semi Dedicated or Dedicated private proxies are good for your use case because it will search the Google to get those results.

Scraping is different task and using social media is different thing totally.

But you can use data center proxies for IG automated posting if you get from quality vendor for sure but you can't create accounts.

So the IPs with smartproxy are good

Are you saying the semi dedicated or dedicated private proxies are cheaper?

Not sure what the benefit is you are suggesting

I am not referring about Smartproxy but i am giving advice generally for data center proxies if you get from quality vendor.

And dedicated proxies will be better though.

Proxy pay per IP will have unlimited capacity in 1 month.
Why don't you buy 1-2 IPs to test them

Yeah you may not need residential proxies but if you do rotating will be best where you pay per GB. It's impossible to be able to tell how much data you'll need unless you test

This is the lowest number of IPs you can get from smartproxys

smartproxys
25 IPs for $12.50 a month

I don't even know how to use them - whether they automatically change - or I need to swich them every so often.

I doubt I am running 24 hours a day. So probably only need one or two. But their bottom tier is 25IPs

Charged by IP, normally, if it is a static IP, it can be used indefinitely during the lease period; if it is a dynamic IP, it will consume 1 IP count per use. If your IP usage is less, you can choose to be charged by IP. If your IP usage is more, it is recommended to choose to pay by GB. The specifics also depend on your needs for the duration of the IP.

You're not going to scrape with residential proxy pricing based on bandwidth

Scraping consumes bandwidth faster than you can imagine

If I were in need of proxies for scraping,

I'll try 10 mobile proxies from T2-3 countries to reduce cost &
rotating residential proxies with unlimited bandwidth
