When I started this website, I had zero SEO knowledge. However, working on this site has taught me a lot.
Now, I’d like to discuss some of the steps I took to reach my current level of success.
This is a tool-based website, and before launching it, I knew only one thing: this tool was unique and not easily replicated by others. I was unaware of the low competition and high search volume technique at the time.
I designed the website on a local host, wrote five articles myself, and launched it with policy pages, one pillar content page, and four additional pages.
Why did I decide to launch with at least five articles?
I started by analyzing competitors who were ranking on the first page. I checked their sitemaps and decided to follow a similar approach. I mirrored their structure to create a foundation.
Over time, I added more articles.
For the first three months, the site was receiving some impressions and clicks, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results. For the first time, I purchased SEMrush to analyze my competitors in-depth.
That’s when I discovered the importance of off-page SEO. I identified my competitors' backlink strategies and began building similar links. Simultaneously, I kept optimizing my content, always focusing on making it better than my competitors’.
After nearly five months, my website reached the first page, landing in the 9th position. Moving up from the 9th to the 3rd position was challenging, and with every step, I kept learning.
In my next post, I’ll discuss how my site reached the 3rd position, how the August core update helped me rank, and the key insights I gained about ranking a website successfully.
