Expired domains when will lose their value?

I have 2 expired domains and I don't want to use them for now due to poor health conditions. They are parked on the registrar and no content is displayed in either of the domains. I even have not installed WordPress but I have seen a few peoples after making purchases restore the old content from the archive. Is it a mandatory step to do it? If yes, then what are the free options available to me? Can I add anything like if there's a matter of displaying something to hold the value of domains then, how about the maintenance page or coming soon or any popup pages after installing wp?

Depends where you are getting your traffic from... If you mean search engine traffic from Google, in my experience usually a few weeks to a month... but if you get the content back up within 1-2 months, it slowly recovers... If your traffic is from other sources - really depends if they start delisting you (i.e., inactive domains), etc.

Maybe find an inexpensive webhost and just park them there... I have some domains I've kept for YEARS because they are on my 'to-do' list - but at least they are active, and it is not that expensive (i.e., works out to maybe $20-$30/month total)...

Any type of clean, non-spammy & niche/topic-relevant content should be better than landing pages, anything that seems natural basically,
You don't need to use the same old content as long as you stick to the old niche topics,
Keeping the content/website hosted will help restore the website authority over & with the sandbox

Thanks, I will add coming soon pages hope there will not be an issue in adding popups of sales or coming soon pages. Do you know any free or paid solution to restore old content or website design from the archive?

I'm using WBM-DL and it does the job without any problems, check here: https://github.com/erlange/wbm-dl
You can also use SpamZilla if you're using their service by any chance,
There are plenty of other tools free/paid, just make a quick google search and you'll come up with a dozen

I'm not certain of that,
Basically, the domain/homepage is hosted and returns a valid page, but with minimal/irrelevant content,
I've used domains that had registrars/auction pages for months/couple of years and they ranked just after setting up the website,
It's not a problem, it could be better than returning no response, but it's not optimal seo-wise, coming soon or some niche-relevant page would be better
