Well i already somewhat quit... It sucks sitting in front of a CPU 24-7.. I saved enough money to start a small offline business that Im seeing rewards off. But when its slow I sometimes jump on my laptop while at work and try new methods out for the hell of it..


Im also closing on a 2nd house on 2 acres of land which I will be leasing out, so i guess Im almost close to quititing. I just want a stable flow of money , doesnt really matter how much... As long as its over 1k a week I'm happy because Im already making more then 70% of the population

Me personally, I'm going to stop doing Black Hat stuff when I have enough money to start my own web sensation like Facebook or Youtube, which I later go on to sell to Google, Yahoo, Microsoft or whoever. Thats the dream...

What is interesting is that you asked " when will you quit being" not "when will you quit doing"

Its like asking a wolf, when will you stop being a wolf? Wolf cant do that. He can get some extensive operation and make himself look like a sheep. He might learn the language of the sheep. Dress like one, smell like one. But in the end of the day he still is a wolf. And deep down he knows it.

That's an interesting observation. That if you ever have a successful internet property, you won't need to use bh methods anymore.

Here's a bit of trivia that many people know, but a lot of you might not.

Before they started MySpace, Brad Greenspan, Chris DeWolfe, Tom Anderson, and the rest of the Intermix team were some of the biggest blackhatters on the internet. eUniverse was a pioneering company in the business of spam. Their company, before they started myspace was behind the MyFreeCursors.com website which using a patriotic flag cursor got people to install their spyware program on their computers. Because of their marketing strategy using spyware, eUniverse recieved one of the largest fines at the time from the federal government. Tom Anderson was also involved in several ventures promoting porn websites, again using primarily blackhat methods to get signups. In fact it was their background as spammers that allowed them to cause myspace to knock friendster out of the top social networking spot so fast after it started up.

So where do they stand on blackhat today? Well, they act like the most self rightious company combating spam and protecting their members from spyware. If you listen to what they say now publicly you would think they had a long held moral objection to any blackhat methods. You know that behind the scenes, ut of the public eye, the wheels are still turning in the back of their minds thinking of anything they can do to turn a profit.

Why are the founders of MySpace against blackhat methods now? Simply because they don't need to use it themselves anymore.
