What does this mean exactly?

We’re renaming our Ads Revenue Sharing program and modifying our Creator Revenue Sharing Program Terms to focus on organic engagement, not ads. Starting on November 8, 2024, revenue generated from verified ads impressions in your replies will no longer impact revenue sharing.

I read their terms, I'm trying to make sense of this:

The creator revenue share payment is based on engagement from Premium users with your content on X.

So now only premium users will generate revenue? And what exactly triggers it?

Their terms are so vague. I have no idea what any of it means.

Twitter... i mean x... has become a huge bunch of nonsense. For my opinion they trynna limit access to their intial monetization programm by cutting off access to the ad money and force as many people as possible to subscribe to their premium trap

That's Elon's design.

If you want an example, he created Paypal. So, the shit show that Paypal can be, is because of him. At least, initially.

Furthermore, he most likely got bad metrics or unfavorable results in creator payout vs premium sales vs advertiser payouts.

Imagine getting banned on a platform, buying it, and basically ruining it.

To be honest, wouldn't mind doing that to Reddit.

seems that is made in a way to avoid paying who ever they feel like and just make any corp excuse about how they can't pay you, basicaly make people work for free for them and don't pay.

that's the evil genius of Elon! Attracting the masses with the promise of making money by imposing a subscription to gain access, getting them used to this new business model and then tightening up the revenue-sharing conditions as much as possible. It's the last straw, paying to be on a platform where advertisers pay for your metrics to run their ads. It's really evil!

It does seem that way doesn't it? The terms are vague to the point they're free to do whatever

Had forgot he created paypal too.

I wonder how he got so rich cuz he don't seem like the brightest one in the room

Essentially, he was the found of like 4-5 different companies, including Paypal. He sold Paypal for a lot and I remember reading a figure like $200M is what he made.

So, all he did was reinvest it and made that money work for him. Any business investor could easily guide him, so I wouldn't give him any credit.

To be honest, he got lucky with the tech boom of the late 90s. That's just one man's opinion, though. :)

There was a post where one user posted his earnings and x account retweet’s it and people comment only big users see that kind of earnings.

1) you’ll need to buy a paid plan 2) follow all their rules for posting 3) pray blue tick mark users interact with your posts.

In those comments one user got limited for sharing some news story so expect many people to be banned or limited for not understanding all the new rules. My first attempt ending in zero $. I’m gonna wait before jumping in again

I thought the bit where only premium users generated revenue changed several months ago.

The most puzzling is this:
Revenue generated from verified ads impressions in your replies will no longer impact revenue sharing.

I've not used Twitter's advertising platform, but I thought people paid for impressions and therefore content creators simply got a cut?

So if people get paid on engagement, there's doesn't appear to be an income variable to split.

It sounds like this method will simply result in a lower payout to people. There's no way he would have changed it if it meant people got paid more.... even though at the start of this year he stated that % payout would increase, and people would be paid more.

Thus, why are people going to be arsed about paying for the Tick if earnings goes down even more? It's actually promoting: Don't bother paying for Premium, it's not worth it.

So I guess he means X will now share revenues based on Impressions/clicks etc and not based on the number of ad impressions? Correct me if I am wrong. A total shit show I must say.

And only impressions/clicks by premium paying users? It's a complete shitshow. But understandable I think they're going bankrupt according to recent rumours

And only impressions/clicks by premium paying users?

That would surely make people cancel their Premium subscription as more people will earn less than the price they are paying.

= Number of Premium Subscribers drops which
= 'Content Creators' make less
= Number of Premium Subscribers drops which..... and on and on.

Pay these 'Content Creators' better and more people will sign up and you have the opposite effect of the above.

Something stinks

I have over 3 million followers, which racks up millions of impressions - fortunately, it's nowhere near my main income any more, but I get like $400 max.

My tweets cover every sort of subject, so as you say, something is wrong somewhere.

It 100% isn't the same rules for everybody. Not a chance.

X is more valuable for connections or audiences anyway. Ad revenue is just bonus

Clearly saying that they won't pay for ads displayed in your replies.
Means people spammed big accounts in hope for high amount of views.
So they are hoping if these ads are not paid that people stop spamming with their replies

It might be saying what it WON'T pay for - but doesn't seem clear what it WILL pay for.

I'm surprised he hasn't done it like Adsense.

Advertisers pay for clicks. When a publisher (Twitter user) has an Ad shown in their tweets/replies and somebody clicks, they get a %.
I guess it would then get bots clicking, but Google seem to have found a way to remove bot-clicks, so I'm sure Twitter could too.

Its not about clicks.
Big twitter accounts gets spammed by other accounts when posting with replies who gain this way views.
So its to make these spam replies less attractive to continue

I am seeing bunch of people getting fat buck on X right now, I also started making content for it because you can easily go viral and get tons of traction and therefore money.
