Are there a lot of you that make a living off proxies? I am considering trying to venture into the field, sourcing the proxies directly from end users. I am just worried I won’t find enough demand even if I keep rates low and the quality is high. I also worry about the potential legal issues if I don’t setup correctly or get the right documents from customers. Any insight? Thanks

I am not in this field - so people who are providing services will be more knowledgeable

Still:
1. Market is highly competive
2. without good Ressources and a value-add, you might not make much profit of it
3. proper marketing is key
4. There are many legal restrictions,
starting with proxies built on botnets
Following article is from the German Gouvernement:

Most people who start playing this field, are not aware of the consequences which come along with those proxies.
Yes, you can write as much as you want in the TOS (e.g: These are sneaker proxies- any violation against the ToS is not our fault).
We’ll, this might work in some countries - but mostlikely you are involved. Involved in a cyber crime, which is not predictable.

There are better income streams than this.

Take care

Thank you for the response this is insightful.

I will have to do more research about value add here, the idea was to source them from end users similar to how Pawns does it. But as you mentioned it’s more of the usage that concerns me, I don’t want to face legal blowback over a small monthly side income.

As far as the market goes it seems strange, most of these sites are simply reselling. I just don’t understand why anyone uses sites besides the main sources that are often cheaper. Is it just marketing?

Yes, exactly. This goes with almost every industry, though.
They don’t have anything special they’re adding on or something? I’ve seen proxies listed at 20gb/$ yet I’m positive they source from one of the like 3 providers. Just seems wild anyone wouldn’t dig for like 5 minutes to find the main providers

Whether you want to be a reseller or build your own server, the resources and money required are different. If you are just a reseller, then it is a good start. You can build your own server after accumulating some experience and customers.

But what’s the upside of being a reseller? Can I actually offer my customers more than the provider? Just seems like a marketing ploy

If I was starting a proxy farm I would look into iproxy + cheap androids + data sim. Probably the cheapest way to create a proxy farm right now.

Id source these from end users not create them myself
