One Question About Reddit Spam

Basically i'm promoting a link with a warmed up account on various subreddits and am relying on being the top comment when users filter by "new".

However, after about 1-2 months, other people end up commenting and my comment with the link is now around the 5th comment.

If I delete my comment and immediately repost it (so it's at the top of "new") will that trigger any red flags?

If so, how long should I wait before deleting and re-commenting? Any insight is greatly appreciated!

That seems like an interesting method, I've never heard of anybody doing this because most people don't filter the comments by "new". I'm curious but pessimistic about how much traffic you could drive with this method because it seems like the impressions on your comment would be a lot lower than if you were to get it to the top of the comment section.

As to answer your question, it shouldn't raise any red flags if you delete and repost your comments on most subreddits. That being said, moderators have access to a wide variety of mod tools that are either made by Reddit or by other moderators/users. There is a chance that there might be a tool in this selection of available mod tools that could detect something like this. If there is most subs, probably wouldn't be using it because I haven't noticed anything like this at all. You can probably delete and repost your comment as many times as you like without an automatic filter catching you or deleting your comment, but you should be aware that other users, and moderators might catch on to this suspicious activity and if they do, they can ban you from the subreddit and/or have your account shadowbanned/suspended.

Hope that answers your question and I would seriously be interested in why you're using the current method that you're using. It's just out of curiosity because I've never seen or heard of anybody using this method before.

To be honest the "new" comment strategy works to some degree but not with as much success of course as with getting top comment. Personally when I scroll on Reddit after browsing the first 5 "best" comments (by default) I'll scroll by new which is why i think it can have some effectiveness.

The only reason why I haven't explored top comment is because I'm worried that buying upvotes will get my accounts and IP banned extremely quick.

Any chance you have some good resources or know of any threads in this forum that talks about safely buying upvotes? That's definitely the next step I want to take.

Btw after browsing on this site today I see that you're very knowledgeable on using Reddit for marketing.

Tbh I don't know if I'm tripping to hard and being too scared of buying comment upvotes. I really only need like 20-30 upvotes for most comments I want to appear near the top. Maybe the odd time I'll need 100 but seriously I don't even need that many.

Buying comment upvotes for your comments or posts will not get you banned if you have a good upvote provider. You just have to make sure you don't do anything too suspicious such as buying too many upvotes compared to the other top comments.

Also, Reddit will never ban your IP address. They are notorious for banning and shadowbanning especially over the past year or so but they mostly do this to accounts with low karma that are using low quality proxies or making other beginner mistakes. They will also be older and higher karma accounts the break the sites, terms of service, usually the ban evasion rules.

Morale of the story, as long as you're careful and you haven't been banned so far for the comments that you're making, buying upvotes for the comments won't be a reason for your account to get banned.
