Recovering from SPAMBRAIN using Disavow...

So, building backlinks the right way with right timing is becoming an art now, with SPamBrain in the game. You now do not know how many links you can build per week, it is a totally black box.
The only data you have, is after building which links situation deteriorated. So this situation happened to me, I think I have overdone it and bought 2-3 guest posts in the span of two days for a 7-8 months old website, and the next day BOOM, rankings went down, instead of UP. Submitted those 2 domains to disavow now, will be waiting if the keywords are back...

Anyone had any experience with fighting SPamBrain penalty through disavowing?

Yes, may sound strange, but the bad effects happened exactly the day after I bought them and they were indexed.
I often use "Past Year" filter, since for young sites it shows the SEO effects faster, and for that filter site dissapeared for the main keyword. It was on the page 1 for a few weeks, and it was on position 1 in that filter after I bought 1st link, and then it completely dissapeared the next day. The overall rankings also worsened. Will see what will happen.

#1 - 2-3 links won't get such problems in the vast majority of cases, even low-quality spammy links,
especially since your website is old enough, and you built guest posts, so I'm assuming from the least decent websites with traffic & not penalized,

#2 You're acting too soon, SEO is a slow game, and any on/off page changes require at least a couple of weeks to see the full impact,

So, what most likely and really happened here is a Google dance, you freaked out & lost the links,
Most low-authority/new websites will get the same effect after getting new links, especially links that could move the needle,

Also, you should never use the disavow tool, unless it's a manual penalty/action and you're going to appeal,
It never works with algo penalties/problems, you can do your research and connect with as many people as you want, you can't prove otherwise,
The disavowed websites might be checked manually tho, getting manual penalties if proven to be a part of a link farm (PBN), your website won't recover,
That's why footprints should be well taken care of when building a solid PBN, they could take the whole network overnight when they find out

That sounds frustrating! A few guest posts usually shouldn’t cause such a big drop, but maybe they were flagged. It might help to wait and see if your rankings stabilize over time. Hope you recover soon!

You should've waited for a week at least imo
Most sites get blasted with few spammy links here and there
It takes time for Google to ignore them

as others said, I don't see how 3 guest posts could have dropped your rankings. I think that the more likely scenario is that the site(s) where you got the links from are somehow penalized / flagged by google so you've inherited part of the penalty...

But since you've already disavowed the links let us know if you get your rankings back, I would love to know this
