When I open an image in a post and click back button, the post or thread does not open up. Instead the category of the post opens up. Is this normal and intentional ?

Could you please provide some sample links @awesomewebsites?

Typically, when you open an image in a post and go back, it returns to the previous page.

However, it depends on how you're opening the image, do you just click on it?

Also, what browser are you using?

I checked a few, but having sample links would help.

If members upload images directly to BHW, it works perfectly.

But if they're using an external image hosting site, clicking on the image opens that site, and there's no option to go back from there.

The behaviour is common for any image posted in any thread. I will record a short video later and post it here if that helps.

That would be really appreciated! It will help the Dev team get a clearer picture of what's going on. Thanks so much!

It's a lightbox.
If you click the browser (or your mobile) back button, it will take you to the previous page. You need to click the Exit button on the lightbox window.
