Hello guys, I’m using Elementor in some websites, and classic Editor in others. The websites with Elementor are terrible slow, sometimes of I try to posts on article take 1 minutes. With Classic Editor all world good instantly.
The website speed it’s ok, the problem it’s only when I work to edit or publish posts with Elementor. With Classic Editor it’s all fine, I can open 20 new tabs without problems, with Elementor if I open 20 tabs my website for error 503 and crash lol.
Why Elementor it’s too slow compared to classic Editor?

Elementor is not necessarily the problem. Hey I might be a bit bias as I am a big fan and avid user of Elementor.

If you're gonna use Elementor, do not use a custom theme as that could make the speed even worse. What I recommend is the official Hello Elementor theme. It is clean and less bloated.

Then combine this with a speed optimizer like Litespeed or WP rockets. I prefer LS as it's installed on all our server and websites running with WordPres and the speed never disappoints.

One word - Hosting!

You’ve got two options, either upgrade to better hosting, much better, or stop using Elementor.

Elementor is pretty demanding on server resources.

If your hosting plan isn’t equipped to handle a heavy page builder, or if your site doesn’t have enough memory, it can cause these issues.

Each page you open in Elementor uses up memory, and when that builds up, it can trigger those 503 (service unavailable) errors.

You have to increase the PHP memory limit on your server.

Elementor recommends at least 256 MB, but if you’ve got a lot of plugins or large pages, bumping it up even more could help.

Also, take a look at your plugins, and disable any that aren’t necessary, especially if they’re running alongside Elementor and adding more strain on the server.

Elementor can be slower than the Classic Editor for several reasons, especially when it comes to editing and publishing posts

You need to pay attention to what hosting you use, if youre using VPS or cloud host

youre site will doing fine using Elementor, Then you can use much lighter theme and install plugins that can support your site speed

I have to agree that Elementor is slow, I had it for my site originally but couldn't cope with how slow things were, so switched to Astra and noticed significant speed increases.

Since then my hosting specs have increased by hell of a lot and on a VPS as well, I tried Elementor again on a test site, nope still too slow for me BUT I have read that if you know how to tweak it with WP Rocket for example, then the speed really increases.

Elementor could be the problem but I'm sure there must be other factors too like:
Server speed
Media assets
No or misconfigured CDN
Unoptimized theme

Check the details on pagespeed.web.dev and gtmetrix and make required improvements.

Facing the same issue; all pages with Elementor Pro + A light weight theme
Normal plugins that are needed = slow
Adding elementor addons like ThePlus and Element Pack Pro = kills the whole speed

Using the Hostinger Business Hosting with 200gb NVMe, cleaned the whole server, only one page - still GTmatrix drops, as soon as elementor is used.

Will most likely work with Neve Theme or Divi.

kind regards

Maybe you're using a custom them which makes it slower... Or you have a virus.

Are you using the premium version of Elementor or the free one? The free one needs lots of additional plugins to be useful, so maybe that's dragging the speed down? If that's the case, you could turn them off one by one and see which is causing the lag.

Elementor is slower compared to the Classic Editor because it uses more resources like memory and processing power to run its advanced features. Elementor offers a lot of design options, which makes the editing process heavier for the server. When you open many tabs or try to publish posts, it puts extra load on your server, causing delays or even errors like the 503 crash. The Classic Editor, being simpler, doesn't need as many resources, so it runs faster and smoother, even with multiple tabs.

Elementor is not the reason for slow page loading. Plugins used on elementor are the cause of slowness.
