Local SEO, especially, is still a largely untapped mine - certainly here in the UK.
Outside the very most competitive industries- optimisation for local businesses is near non-existent in many cases.
As a result, ranking in the MAP pack is more than achievable on limited budgets,
Optimising locally for local businesses to me - was in fact my main source of income for several years. Cold approaching businesses, via email/phone and arranging to go in and see them free of charge. Was like shooting fish in a barrell.
SEO for blogging in 2024, now that's a different story.

It is a very good career in my opinion. The regular updates have made the need for seo more important. But you have to learn working methodologies for doing seo currently.

Yes, why not it a huge market and the demand for SEO services is humongous.
Train yourself by understanding not just learning how SEO works and how it has changed over years.
Once you understand the process you can make progress.
Build a few websites in different niches and try to rank them to gain practical experience.
