I use AI all of the time in my work for things like quickly finding errors in code and texts and for writing up promo materials but I don't like how things are progressing tbh. I think we have a couple years of the internet being fun before it's just ruined. Nothing can be trusted any more, nothing factual can ever be researched on the internet again. The bots will quickly outnumber real users on most sites (if that hasn't already happened) and the "dead internet theory" will truly become a reality.
What's most concerning, for me, is that any tech that we have, government has had for much longer. For example, how much do you think the US gov would pay for a machine that could subvert what society wants and believes. They could lie about anyone and have it propagated so far, so quickly that nobody would ever be able to prove it false.
What would the CIA, for example, do with the ability to spread insane ideologies far and wide and make it seem like the majority of people want a way of life that is against their best interests. It could be used to legitimise political candidates that don't say what the public actually want. It could be used to get an unpopular person (that few voted for) in a position of power and make it seem realistic. I am not saying they have but they already but that would be a wet dream for a covert intelligence organisation and we are on the cusp of this being in the hands of the avg man.
