Crypto in Nigeria (receiving)

We have a developer from Nigeria. As per him receiving crypto in Nigeria is not possible. Is this true, what are your experiences? Thank you

Why don't you pay him with other methods like paypal which will be lighter on your pocket as well ?

Bybit is working well in Nigeria. Just ask him to download bybit and verify it. he will be able to use p2p on Bybit in Nigeria. it's very easy to cashout or he can receive it using telegram. most Nigerians knows how to do it, the guy probably just doesn''t want to

As a Nigerian myself, there's some truth to what he's said.

1. a lot of exchangers (Binance, Bitget etc) does not support p2p in Nigeria. So it's somewhat hard to convert the crypto into Naira (or fiat currency, which is shitty by the way)
2. The government is lately cracking down on crypto users, they believe USDt is the reason our fiat is shitty, so if they suspect transaction is crypto-related, they will freeze all of your bank accounts and whatever savings you have in there. All GONE!

So I think the dev is playing it safe.

But there are a lot of people that still use crypto p2p myself included. and a lot of exchangers still allow p2p using our shitty currency (Bybit).

You can send me the crypto and I send him the Naira equivalent

Yeah, heard the same from my guys and the inflation rate is killing Naira. He is playing it safe indeed, made it to process first transaction and is quite happy about it. To be honest, I wouldn't dare to sent money to someone I know from a forum and expect to not get scammed, sorry But appreciate you input.-

Need to check on that. Wiring money via bank from EU to Nigeria is not that much expensive actually. Its just the currency excange rates and the fees that the banks have in Nigeria which is insane.

Got it thanks. He got a friend as a "intermediary" to get the fiat to him. He had not experiences with crypto before now, believe we're to stay with crypto. Maybe even smarter for him to keep funds in wallet...stable coins are not so volatile as Naira is currently.

Marchants cleverly use descriptions that are not crypto related for transactions. Fees are relatively cheap, infact less than $3
