Mods/everyone: Why did Like Groups disappear?

Serious question. Back in 2015/2016, those like groups helped my Instagram grow so fast and posts hit front page.

Why did they go away? There were niche ones we did on telegram etc. they seemed effective. I have not been on the up and up with this for a while. Appreciate any answers. Thank you.

The algorithm started punishing these types of groups. It didn’t reward likes from bigger accounts/related accounts too heavily anymore. Now it’s more balanced if anything.
