One popular thing that you can use ChatGPT for is the ability to brainstorm.
Even the old models allow you to generate lists.
But 01-preview can actually do a lot of processing and “thinking” with this list.
The “Playoff” Prompting Method

Here is a real example of this “playoff” prompt in action:
We just launched an AI podcast about how to use AI to grow your online presence and earn money online.
Before we named this, we could have used this playoff prompting method.
The idea is to get ChatGPT to brainstorm a list of 32 potential names for this podcast.
Then ChatGPT would pair these names into 16 pairs of 2 and make them playoff against each other.
The winner of each would go to the next round.
The process repeats until a final winner is chosen.
In order to help me design this prompt, I used GPT-4o to explain the basics of what I wanted. I got it to create me a super prompt I could use for this playoff concept.
Here is the prompt that GPT-4o gave me to use:
You are tasked with naming a new podcast.
This podcast will focus on using AI to grow a business and earn money online.
You will use a “playoff” method to find the best name for this podcast.
Follow these steps carefully:

Note: I already chose the name of our podcast before doing this exercise. I just wanted to point out that this is a perfect time to use this type of prompt.
Conclusion:
I think this type of prompt is a great way to get the most out of ChatGPT.
Most people would just get it to create the list.
But it is nice to have the list ordered, and see which it thinks is the best, and the reasoning behind it.
Bonus tip:
You could even take the top 10 results, and ask ChatGPT to make another list of 32 (or 64) or whatever number of suggestions based on that list, and have those compete in a playoff format to get the best one.
