Make it public. Traffic will increase and you can start planning to sell something to your community. But of course management will be more difficult and (possibly) you will have to hire people.

You can increase your auto buy/group by giving out special deals, have weekly give always or set content to engage with members. Also, use social media to spread the word about your group — you can even collaborate with influencers for wider reach. Keep engaging threads and high value content in your group to get new members there, and keep the old ones.

If you want many people to know about the group, make it public. If your goal is just to create quality for your group and you have a large enough social media channel, make the group private, because only people who know you and love you will join that private group.
