BHW buying/selling advice to avoid 3rd party scammers

Learning from the most recent dispute case of Tommy Vs. Get Seo Ranking, I am surprised that people are still falling for this type of scam.

If we look at the incoming transactions used by the scammers, there are almost a total of $15k of incoming transfers, if we assume that all of these are from impersonation scam from BHW alone then that’s a crazy amount for just a spam of two weeks.

As a seller myself, I am not new to this type of scam, I also believe that the more we allow this type of scam to run on BHW, it can ruin many people’s experience as whole towards the forum.

I have had countless number of either real or fake customer coming in on my chat complaining that they have been scammed by someone impersonating me. As a seller, if the claim is true then we’re probably have to lose a potential customer, but if the claim is fake then we are exposing ourselves to a potential threat if we don’t secure ourselves properly.

So here’s what I recommend sellers to do to protect themselves from being liable for this type of scam.

1. Do not need to rush a sale, this type of scam relies heavily on timing because the 3rd party scammer requires to maintain communication between two people at the same time.
2. Never initiate a communication with your customer, if they ask you to write code or numbers to verify the communication, always ask them to start the process, if they can’t send you DM then ask them to reply on your BHW thread first, all of these additional steps you’re asking your counterparty to do will be a hassle to them, if they are legit customer they will do it, if they don’t they will probably just leave you hanging most of the time, even if you push it.
3. On your way to write the code or numbers always attach a screenshot of the person you’re chatting with as well as their unique username identification, with this, the potential buyer should realize that while the code is right the username detail is not, if they are real potential customer they should abandon the trade and contact you instead, if they are fake then this should hinder them to continue further on trying to scam you as potentially forging fake buying evidence.

This simple step should be good enough to stop this type of scam to keep running around on BHW, if you secure yourself as a seller you will also protect both yourself and your potential buyers from this scammer and also protect this forum from being ruined.

We know BHW is a big forum, but it never always too big to fall if this type of scam keep making earnings here, I have seen this type of scam since the time I started my selling service here, it’s your duty and I to spread this and try to stop it from happening again.

This is why I don’t explain the buyer side on my tips above, only on how to protect the seller in this case. Buyer can spend their money however they like but if they get scammed twice that’s on them, if they got scam once before I highly doubt that they will be falling into such scam again even with the offer of a lower price or discounts that don’t make sense from impersonator.

The responsibility here is on the seller to notify buyers about the potential scam they are about to engage with.

In my honest opinion, people who asks for code/numbers are people who have fallen for scams before, so they worry to enter a trade without confirmation, it’s going to be a huge loss if then with this confirmation they still get scammed anyway like Tommy did.

That’s good if they arrive at the right thread there should be direct contact link to the seller and this should at least avoid them from getting hijacked by 3rd party on their way to the seller.

This issue happen specifically on members who just registered and then make either a comment on the BHW seller thread or post on request / HAF forum.
