Huge drop in Google traffic what can I do?

I have a new site that got good traffic around 5k impressions a day and good rankings. Recently out of nowhere my search traffic has plummeted to almost 0, with the only search results coming from the name of my site itself and none of the keywords. If I do a site: then it will still show my pages are indexed.

What could be the case here? Am I penalized? What can I do to regain the traffic?

Its an adult site that shows leaked models so there was a lot of content being indexed. No AI content at all.

if it's not recovering in the few upcoming weeks, then it's most likely an algo penalty,
especially if the pages/website are not ranking anywhere in the top 100 for 90% of the cases,

as @Stupid_Bastard and @tiiberius mentioned, reasons are countless,
more commenly it's about the frequenty, source & quality of the content or/and any type of links you've built/received,
as well as the UX stats based on the traffic you've received, bounce rate, time on website/page, pages/visit, etc...

it would take months to recover from this if ever,
it's a good oppurtunity to start a new one in different niche

Check if there is DMCA take-down on it. You can use search engine itself or tools like this: https://lumendatabase.org

I have DMCA takedowns, but they are for the specific pages itself not the site as a whole. I've been having takedowns and still have good traffic since it only affects a small percentage of the content I have

Check GSC for manual penalties.

If no DMCA or penalties then it's algorithmic.

I'm not seeing anything in the GSC that shows issues. I did have my site go down for about a day could that be it? If so how do I recover from that? I have since fixed the issue

Hard to say, throwing in the dark here.

These brutal, site-wide drops can be attributed to algo updates or content and backlinks they really don't like.
