Regarding Social Networks: Please Help a Begginer

Hello,

First post here, I hope this is the correct section. I tried doing a search but could not find anything related to my question.

I am an entertainer and have a fairly large following on facebook/myspace/youtube. I don't have a huge amount of followers compared to some of the posts I read about here, but everyone I do have is in a specific niche market, they are fans of mine interested in my performances.

I am concerned that for one reason or another one of these social networks will pull the plug on me and I will lose a large chunk of my fans with no way to contact them.

I want to create a place to direct all my fans from youtube/myspace/facebook so that I can still contact them even if I lose my social network page.

Being very new to this type of thing I am not sure what is the most effective site to create. I am thinking either:

Blog
Forum
Mailing List
Standard Website

So in your opinion which is the most effective to direct traffic to, so that I can keep my fan base? I am sorry for the lengthy message, and thank you in advance for your replys!

make a list of emails of your fans

then make an official site so they know where to go in case social network ban you.

I'm not sure why you're afraid that someone is going to pull the plug on you, but maybe you should just whip up a WP blog and make that your main site.

I'd always send traffic to a site I control and have them follow me on Twitter or FB second.

Maybe toss in an opt-in form to keep in touch with your followers if you think Twitter is going to clip your feathers.

Just remember a site that you control is your best bet! I would suggest setting up a WP blog and offer an opt-in so your fans can be included on your mailing list. Just tell your fans to go to your website and sign up for your newsletter. You can even add an update on your FB/Myspace sites when you create a new blog post. This will direct them back to your site and of course, to your mailing list.

He is right: you have your audience attention now all you gotta do is to turn them in to profitable clients.
