Competitor links are all trash

I have been trying to build some backlinks to my site but it has been challenging, of course.

When I look at my competitors their backlinks are 95% trash, they are like foreign sites with little to no content and somehow it seems to power their sites.

Also one of my competitors has thousands of backlinks that link to images of their site specifically, not even pages.

This has made the search for good sites for backlinks even harder, but honestly I am more worried about not being able to compete.

If they are ranking as well as they all are with these trash links I am worried about wasting time trying to build proper links that may do nothing. Has anyone had any experience with trying to compete with competitors who literally all are full of garbage links?

3-4 years ago, I had two competitors who had lots of trash links... about 2 years ago they lost all their traffic.
Just like you I tried to copy their links but there was NOTHING to copy.

Since How long are your competitors ranking in first page.
If you are trying to copy them what tool are you using to check their backlinks.

Sometimes tools don't show the hidden backlinks like PBN or some other.

Try to be a bit patient while working on making a brand. Starting building niche backlinks and backlinks from Discussions where talks about your products are being mentioned.

There are other factors like user experience, domain age, mobile friendliness, etc. You can concentrate on improving the on page performance of your website and updating the existing articles.

Also, check what kind of topics and keywords they are ranking for. Work around those to improve the performance. Build backlinks from legit websites with diversified anchor profiles.

It's frustrating to see competitors rank well with low-quality links, but Google's evolving algorithms will eventually catch up.

Eventually they'll tank, i've seen some of our competitiors smashing it for a few months, then they just dissapeared and we are brick and mortar companies, could see they were buying links and links, the vleocity was huge, traffic risen quickly, then just as quick as they were purchasing they were tanking.

Yea literally no sites I can try to get links from since all their links are literally trash spammy links

My sites do not have "articles" they are like free tools for people to use so it is harder to make plenty of content on them, the content is what they do for you which is hard to extrapolate on.

These sites have been around for like a decade, I hate to say it but I don't think they will tank. They offer a lot of value but their links are weak, they literally get over 15 million hits each a month according to SEM Rush.

because your competitor did .
