So I read the stickied guide in the "Disputes" forum, and it's pretty good but would like to learn a bit more.

1. How do I establish a seller's reputation on bhw? What things should I look at?

2. As I understand the main tips are keep the transaction on BHW conversation and use escrow?

3. Anything else I missed?

To avoid getting scammed as a buyer, always purchase from reputable sellers, verify reviews, and use secure payment methods. Avoid deals that seem too good to be true and never share personal information unnecessarily.

This, and:
  • Use escrow or PayPal when paying for anything more than $100-200 especially for sellers with new accounts, with just a couple of hundreds of posts
  • Avoid using Telegram by any means, many scammers use the name of the bhw sellers and other sell stuff in bhw and simply delete the whole conversation later
Just use common sense with anything else, make your research and ask if you're hesitant

Why not to buy from old and reputated vendors. but also a seller can technically bypass what you think you will get . So get clear information from him

how do you verify reviews?

I think there's no better way than requesting upfront payments and thoroughly verifying the transactions. We've learned from experience after being scammed for large amounts of money multiple times. :)

First talk with vendor if your spider sense tingles, stay away no matter how attractive they look.
Then look at the review in BHW.
Lastly pay with credit card, if anything you can report and claim for refund.
If its big amount and they are not corporate just personal service provider. I log their IP, find their family members or gf in social just incase if he is unreachable.

Talk/Chat with the sellers before making purchase.,
Keep the records of chat and seller's promises on delivery.
Never use Crypto, where you cant file disputes.

always avoid huge discount

Impossible.
Even old members, Jr. VIPs scamming.

Only use Paypal to protect yourself and send money only as paying for service.

Read their thread review carefully. Most of time i am doing video call with seller.

Yes keep everything in bhw pm and for anything above $200 use escrow. No matter if that is old member or new or have bst. Recently i saw very old bst seller run once their stock finish. if people genuine they will not reject to use of escrow.

3. Anything else I missed?

Do not send high payment once. always use part payment

Use bhw pm as a communication method, use PayPal as a payment method.

Thats a lot.
Paypal banned my account after a buyer issued a chargeback after taking products and they take buyers side no matter how old your account is. Paypal has disadvantages for sellers as well.

- Don't do business with sellers who offer nearly everything (scripting, programming, graphics design, account sales, SEO, ...) at their "Want to buy" thread replies.

- Don't do business with sellers who smell fishy due to permanently bumped sales threads ("discount please", "review copy please", ...) by bots/hired forum posters.

- Ask the sellers to show you proofs of their previous work (videos, screenshots).

- Only agree in 50/50 or 33/33/33 payments (33 % upfront, 33 % for the prototype, 33 % for the final release).

Don't buy ads related services here from newly upgraded members. Scammers tend to target high tier products .

how do you verify reviews?
To verify reviews, look for patterns of authenticity by checking for detailed, balanced feedback rather than overly positive or generic comments. Cross-reference reviews across different platforms and be cautious of reviews that seem repetitive or are posted within a short time frame.

I think to avoid getting scammed, you should always check the reliability of sellers, use secure payment methods and always read reviews. And do not trust such deals that seem too good to be true.

Yeah don't deal with new users, or any user that is not allowed to sell on here who does not have the right privileges.

Don't use telegram or discord or any other messaging app for that matter, keep it all on BHW.

Ask for referrals and other people willing to corroborate what the seller is saying.

Don't pay everything up front, a small upfront amount maybe but don't pay until you see work completed. some sellers will be ok with and some wont so choose wisely.

DONT pay with crypto!
