Not only this, but also, that's how most online sites worked pre-2010. It wasn't until Myspace died, Facebook took over, and Twitter started getting traction that this KIND OF changed.

Twitter has since went in the other direction. There's major celebs, minor celebs, "business" accounts, and troll accounts.
