Google has indexed my client's e-commerce website for 4 months. The blog posts and products rank quite well, but the homepage still doesn't rank for any keywords. The page has been properly indexed, and the optimization is in place.

Homepages that are too minimal in content might struggle to rank for keywords. If the homepage focuses only on visual elements or has too little text, it may not be enough to give Google context on what the page is about.

I think you should reconsider the on-page optimization for better results when it comes to ecommerce you have to do proper on-page like title tags, meta tags, header tags, internal linking and compare your website with your competitor and do some content optimization and work on building backlinks to enhance your overall SEO performance.

To boost the homepage ranking, ensure the content is high-quality and keyword-focused. Optimize the title tag, meta description, and headers. Improve page speed and mobile-friendliness. Build high-quality backlinks and review competitors’ strategies for additional insights.

If the homepage isn’t ranking, it might need more targeted keywords, better internal linking, and linking to other high-authority pages. Also, check for any technical issues or missing on-page elements. It might take some time, but continuous optimization and high-quality content can improve its chances of ranking.

If your client's homepage is indexed but not ranking, it could be due to several reasons. First, check if the homepage has enough unique and relevant content related to the targeted keywords. Second, make sure it's optimized for user experience and mobile-friendliness. Also, building quality backlinks to the homepage may help boost its authority. Lastly, give it more time, as SEO results can take longer to show for homepages.

I think for your homepage you need to build more external links than your product pages and other pages

Use naked URL as a keyword to build some links and analyze how the results will be

Identify the primary and secondary keywords relevant to your business and ensure the keywords are used in the homepage properly. Optimize your ON page again and update them regularly. Build quality backlinks pointing to your homepage. This can include guest posts, niche edits, and social sharing.

Yes, I haven't done many high-quality backlinks; I've only created a few free ones. It's becoming increasingly difficult to get effective free backlinks now.

Optimize the homepage for main or brand keywords, do better linking, and build backlinks to your homepage along with your product pages.

Do internal link building and get backlinks pointing to your homepage. Make sure the contents in the home page are of quality and user engaging content

If the homepage isn't ranking, ensure it's optimized with relevant keywords, has high-quality, engaging content, and receives strong internal and external backlinks. Also, check for technical issues like crawl errors or low page speed.

I think what's more important for an e-commerce site is product pages and collection pages to rank. Those are more likely to convert than home page. I would rather spend more time and resources getting product and collection pages to rank and convert more than struggling to get homepage to rank. Unless it is absolutely necessary for my business.

To improve your homepage ranking, ensure the page is properly optimized for targeted keywords and features unique, high-quality content. Additionally, check for any technical errors and review on-page SEO factors to ensure everything is correctly set up.

If your homepage lists products from a related/similar category, for example mobile phones from different brands, it is much more likely to be ranked than a homepage that lists products from different categories such as shoes, apparel, accessories. This is from my experience running different eCommerce sites in the past.

The only place the homepage is meant to rank is the name of the brand. So if his brand name is "Feroche", it should rank for "Feroche". You don't expect to rank for keywords like " best shirts", "jumpsuits", " trendy shoes", or whatever niche your client is in. Those keywords are too competitive and it's just not easy to rank the homepage for them (even saying hard might be an understatement)

If the homepage of your client's e-commerce site isn't ranking despite proper indexing and optimization, consider evaluating the following: ensure the homepage content is highly relevant and optimized for target keywords, improve internal linking to boost authority, and check for any technical issues or duplicate content. Additionally, assess the quality and quantity of backlinks pointing to the homepage, as strong, relevant backlinks can significantly impact rankings. Regularly review and adjust your SEO strategy based on performance data to enhance visibility.

if your homepage just full of list of your articles products, categories, etc it will make it even more difficult for your homepage to rank unless your homepage have good amount of quality backlinks that strong enough to push the homepage to the top

If your homepage doesn't have relevant or unique valuable content , google might not consider it as valuable one, use more detailed and unique content or information.
