I don't know why Google suddenly stopped showing my blog favicon in Serps.
This has made me lost a lot of traffic because the CTR drastically reduced from like 5% to 1% as a result of no favicon.
Visitors would think the site is spam and refuse to click the page.

Has anyone had the same issues and fixed it? Please let me know. This is taking a toll on me.

First of all, check that you have the right format (not WEBP) and your favicon is mentioned in the page code.

I have the right format .png, not sure what you mean by having the favicon mentioned in the page code. Can you elaborate more on that?

The Site Icon is what you see in browser tabs, bookmark bars, and within the WordPress mobile apps. It should be square and at least 512 × 512 pixels

Maybe it's just a caching issue of some sort on your browser? Did you check with another browser? With VPN or different version of Google? (different country). If you are comfortable with it, you can send me the search result link and I can check it on my end.

Just in case you are having problems with creating a favicon, there is an online site that I use to create PNG to the correct favicon format. I use it every time I make a new site and it always works without a problem https://favicon.io/ (I do not own this site).

check if your favicon is added properly, sometimes on wordpress plugins cause some issues to which Favion shows error. Try using a different plugin or different method to add the favicon. Also check if you have not copied someone else's Logo may this be the issue. if your favicon is not showing then try adding it again with a different method.

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with your favicon disappearing. Have you tried re-uploading the favicon and resubmitting your site to Google Search Console? Sometimes clearing the cache or checking for any technical issues might help too.

PNG is not the right format.
Please read documentation.

I was able to fix it thanks to an answer on Google webmaster forum.

Had to use this website: realfavicongenerator (dot) net to create the favicon and uploaded to the root directory of my site then lastly I fetched the homepage in search console.

It's working perfectly now.

Thank you all too for your suggestions and advice.
Now I'm fully back.

Google may take time to update, so it's a good idea to be patient.

For best results, it should be square and at least 512 × 512 pixels in size.

Yes, I faced the same problem with my blog's favicon disappearing from Google search results. It greatly affected my traffic too, as people were less likely to click on the link. I tried to fix it by updating the favicon in my website settings and also by submitting a new sitemap to Google Search Console. It took some time, but eventually, the favicon started showing up again in the search results.
