Stopping Youtube double click

When you have an embedded YouTube video and a visitor clicks on the video once, it plays the video, but if they click on it twice it takes them to the YouTube website.

Is there any way to disable this so that the second click does not take them to YouTube, but leaves them on your own site. I looked on both BHW and searched the Big G and couldn't find anything.

Don't think its possible since that feature is coded into the feature itself.

but what you can do maybe is put a photo,frame below the players window so at least its not so visible for the visitor to click.

whats not visible? if you click the video itself, it will take you youtube.

If you don't mind using the bandwidth, just up the vid to your site directly and use jw player to play it. That stops a number of problems i've had with YT

In the early days of SPIKE, sometimes they would just embed a YT clip, and they were able to disable the click through.

There is a VIACOM rant video on YT with caps of this.

Some good suggestions here. I would imagine though that you still want your YT plays counted for your video. Putting the video directly on your site obviously makes you lose out to that.

While I have never thought of doing this, and never heard of this need till today, I would imagine you could perhaps accomplish this by maybe getting a floating iframe over where you are placing your youtube video with a javascript code maybe that handles double clicks, and will go to the video either on a single click or a double click according to the script. You could have the iframe simply display an image capture of the youtube video you have now, so all they are clicking on before they ever get to the video, is the image. This way you can take control of the click/double click going on before it hits the actual video.

I am not a programmer, but from what I know of javascript and coding in general, I think you could find someone who knows what they are doing to make something like this for you.

Might not be worth it to you, in which case the suggestions above might be the way.

I know exactly what you mean. I have seen many websites doing this. You can watch the video but you can't click on it or make it full screen. Unfortunately never wondered how they do it. If you play with the embed code, maybe?

They are likely using just a plain java/flash applet that is theirs.
