Well. I did something dirty, it wasn't intentional. I ordered from a store with a prepaid card (it was in my husband's name), I don't like to order with my bank card online because my bank sets things into overdraft and loves fee so I keep activity there for large purchases limited! Anyways I ordered the item, it came but they didn't charge the card for about 5 day. Obviously the item came before they charged me. It was a $200 item. Something unexpected happened with my car and I took off the money that was on there for the purchase and used it. So basically when they charge it, it won't go through and I have the item... What will they do, they do have my number, name and address because it wasn't intentional. Will they put it on my credit, will they pursue criminal damages. I know I sound paranoid but I don't have the money on there. I would be pay by calling and making a phone payment (it is a chain of stores) but I don't have it right this second. I paid for half the order successfully but they didn't charge the other half, spent it and now I am spooked. I know that was a dumb move...

You either have to pay for the item or return it.. I'm sure you'll get a call soon

Yes, this has happened to me before when I bought an item worth 110 dollars and did not pay for it after receiving it. First, I felt joy and this weird excitement in my head. But then... it started...
...and consequences continued...
...for...
...long, painful years...
Let me just say that it all ended when they started to threaten me. I've spent several years suffering from severe mental pain because of what I did. But
don't worry, OP, you will be OK! : )

JK, the aforesaid is a weird fiction. Now seriously, just contact them ASAP about the issue. It would be a smart move. If you will not tell them about the problem, it will probably be considered a breach of contract due to fraud on your part.

keep it, return it if they ask. You didn't know that they didn't charge you:rolleyes:

I don't know how my "thanks" record got that high! Hmm...

That's weird... so they shipped the order without charging the full amount to the card?

From what I know, theres 2 ways this could have happened:

1. System failure on their store/payment processor end. Order was approved to be shipped, but the actual authorization was never sent to the credit card company, hence the card was never charged.

2. Credit card company/bank failure. Don't know what brand of prepaid card this is, but many of the "gift" cards are issued by a bank, who issues them to a larger company, who then sells off the cards to a smaller company, who then sells them to the store and applies branding, etc. Naturally, there is quite a potential for a system screw up here.
From what I have read somewhere, if a bank's system is down, making it impossible to authorize purchases, by default, all transactions under a certain amount are approved by default. They should then be re-authorized manually a few days later.

In any case, you're worrying for nothing. Unless you deliberately exploited a loophole in the site or hacked it in any way, this is not a criminal matter (besides, at least where I live, cops will seldom bother to investigate fraud below a few thousand dollars). They can't put it on your credit report, since you never applied for credit from them. You simply entered your credit card info to make a payment. Too bad that there was a system fuckup and the order went out without being charged.

Two things could happen:

1- If it's a store problem. Either they won't notice/care. Or they will call you to ask to pay for the item or return it.

2- If it's a bank issue, either nothing will happen, or they will force it through and put the prepaid card balance in the negative. In that case, you would simply load up money on the card to bring it out of the hole.
