You can't focus much of keywords with one page website that leads to high traffic when you target medium competition keywords, but to maintain the rankings and going on with a trend you need more article website that can used wisely to generate more traffic. Might take 3-6 months in general with or without back links.

Article sites give you more opportunities to rank for multiple keywords. Building backlinks with different keywords will get you more link juice to your site to get a better result. Are you looking to promote multiple products or just one? If you're looking for more than one product, I'd suggest an article website. If it's one product that you'll continuously promote, 1 page sites do work.

Guys, save this guy some BS, he can't do anything to rank top 10, UNLESS it's a keyword with low competition. ANd here is where keyword research comes in, and this is why its extremely important.
So basically, with your research, those are the top 2 things you should be sure about:
1. Keyword has low competition, but still significant enough amount of searches.
2. The keyword is in a vertical where you have good offer to promote.

It depends on how many products you are about to promote. If you just want to promote a single product, you can use the one page site. If you are about to promote multiple products you can use article websites. So, you can target more keywords around your product and topic.
