I'm planning on starting personal brand on Twitter / X... Should I worry about shrinking of the social media ? Тhe rumours are that twitter is slowly dying, is it true ?

Is it better to focus on twitter or is it better to focus on instagram... I want to build audience by mainly writing... So it will be threads and tweets or screenshot writings and carousels for instagram.

Help, please! I don't want to start growing and fall behind if Musk fails.

Still plenty of traffic and eyeballs on Twitter. It's particularly good for PR and getting into mainstream media, which is helpful with other types of marketing.

Yes, the site is slowly becoming worse. But nothing else has emerged that fills the gap - and that's how it manages to survive. There is no alternative for journalists, activists, politicians, and other niche communities that rely on a fast flow of brief info. Yes, there are platforms that do similar things to Twitter, but if all the sources you rely on are still on Twitter then you can't leave.

When something does emerge to fill the gaps, it'll be obvious and you'll move over to that, and by being an early mover in those first few weeks you'll see massive growth in your personal brand.

But is it worth to start twitter brand as main social media just now? Or is it better to go insta... I am gonna focus on 1 social media at a time and grow other social accounts in future.

If you're only looking to start one to focus on, it depends.
  • If you're selling through relationships, or via PR in traditional news media, Twitter is best.
  • If you're selling visual things (design, fashion, etc), or selling to an audience of women aged 30-50, Instagram is best.
If you just want a profile on a social media site that you can link back to your blog with, it doesn't matter which one because neither will do much good for you.

But if you're actually wanting to use social media to drive traffic and bring in clients, then the type of marketing that you're going to want to do on either aim to position you as a thought-leader in your field of expertise.

You can't just post crap and expect it to drive engagement, traffic or sales.

Social sales skew heavily towards the top handful of experts / brands in a vertical. That's what building the personal brand does there.

That means you typically establish your expertise through networking with other experts, delivering value, posting good content that people engage with, and people buy you because you're one of the top go-to people in that field because you have credibility and good market positioning. That's hard to do on multiple social media platforms - so you focus on the one social media platform where your customers hang out most as your main focus.

I am not selling anything at the moment, not blogging also... Going to build addiction - sobriety brand... I am very good at writing, that's why I am thinking about twitter / X...

Yeah, Twitter might be on it's way down but it's hard to say for sure when it gets there. It's still a decent place to gain and track a following so I'd say jump in while it's still there.

Don't believe rumors. Twitter is next to LinkedIn. Professionals can make a killing in X.

Both Twitter and Instagram are good sources, but I think Instagram Reels can expose you to more users

Twitter is not the same anymore surely.. it is getting ruined and fast

depends on what your audience are, I think twitter's still a good platform to try. maybe instead of focusing all your time in twitter, you can divide your efforts to other social media platforms too.

While twitter X has its challenges, it still offers a strong platform for writing and engagement. Consider starting on both Twitter and Instagram to diversify your reach. Focus on what you enjoy more—if writing is your strength, Twitter might be better, but Instagram can more benefit promotion with visuals and photos videos

position you as a thought-leader in your field
This. Totally.
Everything else just doesn't make sense.
Making yourself into a thought-leader is hard as hell and requires a real creative thinking.
At the same time, nobody will write you a step-by-step guide for this.
Because it requires a tailored approach.

That's why there are millions of unsuccessful accounts with crap/AI-generated content and only handful of accounts with 10k+ !real human! followers.
