In the light of recent events and with the advent of lowlives taking advantages of gaps in the system, have a running "suspicious activity" thread where users can post directly suspicious interactions that may lead to scams.

Think "Minority Report" with Tom Cruise.

How's that different from just reporting a post?

Well, if you just report that goes to a mod where they make a unilateral decision and if "no rule was broken" that is it, because they do not have a potential bigger picture. However, if someone screenshots a suspicious dm and posts it on the thread, then another user comes saying "oh me too", then a 3rd one "oh yeah he said that to me too", you can see how that leads to pattern.

I don't think so that would work. A simple and most effective way is just to launch the escrow service on BHW. The guy who now scammed $9k , already scammed at least $50k or maybe more on his main profile. That wouldn't have happened if there was some central system of payment processing.

Or just start kyc for sellers who want to charge such high amount of money for their services.

The thing to keep in mind is, a scammer is always a scammer, it doesn't matter which platform you choose to deal with him, he would take your money and fly off.

You posted rules for a forum called "whitehatworld". On this website things that are sold cannot be easily controlled. The risk is inside the business. All customers doing such business should understand broader business perspective. It has nothing to do with how the marketplace is built but customers not taking their time to do small operations and not pump $1000s into single transactions for "ads" / "accs" / "links". All that stuff should be done in small amounts and don't buy more than you can afford to lose.

You could be more explicit.

Simply don't pay with crypto for users that registered recently (a few days/weeks ago) and have upgraded to "BHW marketplace seller" (US$ 749).

Come on mate , we're all hearing this from long time now. "Do your own due diligence before buying from a member here." But do you know , sarte was a jr executive VIP here, a badge which we both won't be able to acquire soon , so you never know , who's dealing with you behind that blue badge.

I wouldn't do business with random people. If someone doesn't let me get them to know, it's already pointless to continue such a relationship.
Tom Belfort (splishsplash) doesn't hide behind badges. Lucky.sparks too. You need to get to know those guys if you want to do deals with them.
Business focuses around psychology of relationships. The more good you can get, the better you cash out.

There are also people who buy "aged" BHW accounts 60+ days old, 100+ posts, and upgrade to Jr. VIP.

So maybe an automated browser fingerprint/location/IP network/user agent comparison (old owner vs. new owner) by XenForo could help here to detect account sales.

It already exists, it's called History.

And no, it's not the right way either (speaking according to the rules of the forum and the context of what BHW is), since I myself could have registered here 10 years ago from my native country, but I decided after 10 years to use my account again, the system will detect that it is not the same person, so it occurs to you that it is also verified by 2FA, right? If someone buys the account, then they would also buy the same email to be able to verify the account to log in.

The staff from what they can do tries all possible and direct ways to fight with the scammers, the forum is open for everyone to read and inform themselves.

Adding an Escrow system as everyone asks, is even more complicated than it seems, it would no longer be a random escrow system would be something official of BHW and if a problem occurs (as it is also expected to happen) this would fall on the reputation of the forum.

I think that all this is being thought out by the staff and by the owner of the same forum, they have already reported the early launch of MarketPlace 2.0 on several occasions, hopefully.

Sorry, but the "browser fingerprinting" doesn't exist in XenForo by default.
I know it doesn't exist, believe me haha. I meant that everything you want to do below

It already exists, and it's called history. So, you don't need a browser with so many features made by xenForo to get the same information.
Go to ACP , check the user , compare IP that’s it.

Edit : What would I do? Create a new user promotion, users who hasn’t online since X years back and it’s online now , requires to do X task, just to verify it’s the same person.

And this is just a “way” , there are many ways , now what BHW need its the best one or the right one , whatever you name it.

Account sellers also sell "aged" BHW accounts incl. proxy or VPN access, so the IP network (or even IP) will stay the same in this case.

But email changes (right before the Jr. VIP upgrade), avatar changes, sudden "About" changes etc. are also very interesting.

Scammer won't deal with you in the first place. Their target is naive newbies .You won't do business because you're here for long time and aware of such things but a newbie can't understand that. Most of the times newbies become victims of such scams not reputed one.

Probably a "deal with caution" tag On the profile will reduce such scams.

I am not informed like you of all the data that account sellers use to sell their accounts, in the same way everything can be verified by the staff before and after the purchase.

All right, so I get why you would suggest this. However, this thread would only result in a large number of complaints by members who would feel called out.

I understand what you mean by having this thread give moderators context, but as can be seen in the disputes section, we'd likely just run into a problem with members info-dumping, which can often confuse the situation even further.

It's something I'll discuss with the rest of the team at some point. Although, I'd say that if we went forward with this, the only real place we could put this thread where it wouldn't be as problematic is the Jr. VIP section.
