Cannot run Srapebook

Hi Black Hatters,

I purchased 'Scrapebook' recently.
But I cannot run it on my machine. this is what happed step by step.
1. I ran the program first time and it displayed a windows and a small popup saying "Please Wait -Validating License"

2. i opened it then i pressed the activate button and entered my activation details and submitted it via the program.

3.and once i received the activation confirmation email i ran the program. and it again displayed "Please Wait -Validating License"

then Windows displays a message saying

I contacted Scrapebook support and they said its a windows error and they are unable to help and the best they could do is offer a refund. They are also helpless with it i guess.

I'm posting this thinking somebody might have come across the problem or simlar and found a solution to this. Please help me.

this is what i have done so far:
I tried restarting the machine, Disabling NOD32 Virus Guard, and Disabling the Firewall. still no luck.
I copied the same folder to another machine ran it and it worked perfectly even after the activation.

I am on Vista.

here's your answer, especially if it's 64 bit
i recommend you a downgrade to xp (32 bit), or an upgrade to win7 (32 bit)

I'm on Vista 32bit. I wish it ran on this machine as it is.. since they have not said that they do not support Vista 32bit.

Hm. i will have to upgrade to win7 if i get no other solution..

I used it on windows 7 ultimate and moved to to my laptop with xp and on both machines it works perfectly. I moved to my laptop so that that machine is dedicated for this kinda work.

That's pretty strange.

I run Vista and it works fine for me.

then maybe enough to reinstall your OS (i mean make a backup of your important stuff, format your HDD and install vista again), maybe there's something wrong with the registry
but if i were you, i don't install vista once more and if you don't want a downgrade (xp), try win7 and see what happens, it's really fast to install

yea.. i've been waiting to install Win7 for a long time now.
the headache is reinstalling all the other programs that are already on the system again from the dvds etc.. errr..

But it seems its high time for me now eh..

it seems to be an isolated, individual problem, if the support can't help you

you can also try to uninstall the program, clean the registry (for example with pctool's registry mechanic or if you're a registry expert with regedit , but be careful what you do), install the program again and see what happens

Is your license verified?

It says "verifying license" and then close.

OP try this, create a shortcut to scrapebox.exe then right click and go Properties on the shortcut and in the Target box add /debug on the end and apply like this:

Run ScrapeBox using the shortcut and logfile.zip.dat will be created in the ScrapeBox directory. Email this file to me.. No ideas if this can be worked around, from memory this was a system ntdll.dll error.

My Scrapebox (Got the name right this time ) didnt come with an installation. its just a folder. and i get the Scrapebox.exe inside. I run that. is there a installation to be done?

Try running it in compatibility mode for xp sp2 and as administrator. Sometimes certain versions/updates of scrapebox will not run on my system at all and I must wait a day or two until a new version/update is available.

You could also track down the error by running regmon and filemon from the sysinternals suite, but that's quiet advanced and probably won't help you anything if you have no IT background.

I would go for what ruwan7 said and send him the file. If you don't mind, you might send it to me as well and I can have a look.
