How does one guy own 500TB worth of mega content?

There is one group/website that has a tone of content on mega. Like 300-500 TB worth of "content". My question is - how?

If you check the pricing of mega plans, they charge anything from $800 to $1200 A MONTH for that kind of cloud storage. I don't believe dude's spending 10-15k a year on cloud storage on mega. So my question is - how?

Creating multiple accounts is not an option as they have 20GB limit per account, and 1 mega link is usually 0.5 - 5TB.

Could be someone using a corporate account on the down low. Or perhaps they have some money making venture closely linked to the sharing of content and that’s how they fund the account. Or perhaps they’re actually pushing out malware through the content and it’s part of a bigger criminal operation.

maybe using hacked accounts for fraction of the cost. you can find these quickly on account marketplaces via google.
or they're making more money on the backend that they can justify the cost.

it's a long document but the first few sections summarize the criminal investigation and probable-cause nicely.
most of it's related to the willful failure to remove copywritten files and making millions of dollars off of it by selling premium accounts & the rewards system in place for uploaders.
his 2 partners plead guilty in a plea deal, and served 30 & 31 months respectively in NZ prison.
dropbox and google are approved by the powers that be. didn't obama join dropbox's board a few years ago? not everyone's allowed to play in the file sharing market.
some cool stuff in that pdf for those who like to read these things. further demonstration if you're breaking the law don't talk about it online with your buddies...some funny chat logs were presented into evidence.

i was on team mega, but after reading the document it really broadened the horizon of what was going on behind the scenes. kim will have his day in court and get to argue the well known argument- you can't arrest the mailman for delivering contraband that a stranger mailed, or in this case uploaded.

If he's paying around 800-1200, then imagine him making the kind of money for him to not think about that high monthly payment hmmm.
