Can I reset a company Macbook Pro?

So I have x2 company macbook pros from a company I left 2 years ago. They have no asked for them back and I have sent multiple emails about it. They are a mega corp and obviously don't miss them...

I am wondering if I am able to factory reset them myself for personal use?

I can still log in to the laptop fine etc. Any help is appreciated

If it's not iCloud locked, you can just erase the machine, and reinstall the os and it will be yours.

It doesn’t matter whether it is a macbook or otherwise. You cannot claim them as your own probably in 99% of the countries.

Been sitting here over 2 years now and I reached out multiple times. Should they ask for it back ill give it back but until then - ill use it.

If it reset without issue it should be fine and I doubt they will ask for them back after that amount of time. Even if they do, just say you threw them away because they couldn't expect you to keep them forver anyway and its not like you didnt try to return them.

So, you don’t understand it do you? They have purchase invoice and your hardware is tagged. Everything you do with it is logged and you can’t do anything to stop it. When they get the hardware, they will sue you after looking at the audit log. You will literally be f*cked.

Is is managed via a uem? Then probably you couldn’t reset it even if you tried.
If it isn’t then I suppose it might be worth a shot if you’ve got the sole admin privelages here?
How old are they out of interest? It will reach a point where they probably won’t be worth taking back anyway lol

Check out all apps and see if there's any corporate tracking or any other app that is not supposed to come builtin.

• I factory reset it
• No Company logos anywhere
• No MDM set up
• No Other iCloud links
• No Tracking software

I've reached out multiple times but no response so I will use it myself. If they request it eventually ill return it but I'm comfortable using it for now

Just going off on an a tangent here a bit - I wouldn’t fuck about on an m-series that is stolen or you know you shouldn’t be using. They track everything. I once decided to use an old iphone I brought brand new purely for gaming. Wiped it and set up a new Apple ID for it. Got the game. Then while playing realised there was a typo in the new ID I set up. Wiped it and set it up again with the correct ID and the phone somehow got blocked. Said I violated the terms or something? Had to call support to tell them wtf? And they remotely unblocked it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still no idea what that was about

Definitely, as long as you can access the account and doesn't have any other type of restriction you can't remove you should be good, still is kind of weird they did not wanted to reclaim their laptops, also make sure their are not linked to anything else.
