[Journey] Building a YouTube EMPIRE

Previously I made a my journey post, but had ultimately given up due to not seeing the results I wanted and feeling pretty disgusted for working in the NSFW space (no hate to anyone) as it goes against my personal morals I guess.

I've revisited the idea of making money online and have decided to go back into YouTube. I plan to run three different channels and while it does seem like a lot, I've found a way to incorporate AI into all of them making it a lot less time consuming.

The niches I plan to target are
- Crypto News
- Tech News
- Gaming News

You might be asking Why News? The reason I'm targeting News Channels is because I believe the avenues of monetization are a lot easier as well as the fact that click baiting is pretty easy. On top of this, because I've been able to minimize the amount of work required by me, I'm able to focus on study as well as gym seeing as I'm in my final year of high school.

The purpose of this thread is to have some self accountability and motivation I suppose. I don't really have an end goal for this, other than making a shit ton of money as a big fuck you to everyone I guess. I'll be posting updates every Sunday so stay tuned if you're interested.

What are your plans to grow the youtube channels? Will you be running some blogs or socials to help get the word out or are you just gonna make tons of videos and wait for them to hit ?

For now I'm doing weekly news videos, but once I get the ball rolling I plan on adding some more filler videos. I plan to mainly use shorts and other organic methods to grow as that's what I have the most experience with doing.

I'm relatively in experienced when it comes to blogs, so a super basic version of what I plan to do is

Videos -> newsletter -> Blog

As a way to ease myself into it. As for socials I do plan on reuploading the shorts to IG reels and tiktok as I don't see any drawback to doing so, however, they won't be the main focus in anyway.

Almost 7 month update, The dreams not dead!

I've had to shift content a few times and honestly for the first couple of months I was beyond lazy. I really only started to lock in 2 months ago .

Since this thread I have created three channels

- A Commentary channel
- A Programming tutorial channel (Best preforming)
- A shorts channel

I'm no where near monetization because honestly I haven't been uploading enough. The programming channel will hopefully get it within the next month or two as the watch hours are really good on it.

I also have an old minecraft shorts channel from last year with 100 subs that I might try to revive, it was averaging 10k views per vid and honestly I should have kept it going.

My biggest problem so far has been motivation with the channels. I make no money from any of these, and its hard to stay motivated when that's the case. If I could, I would definetly change the thread to a content empire rather than YouTube. Since my last post I've also tried making a few NSFW subreddits and twitter pages, as well as a meme instagram page which haven't done well but I see the potential in all of them for sure.

Definitely going to be committed to more update posts now that I'm locked in. Hopefully once a fortnight

WEEK 2 Update

- I made a video for the programming channel which I just posted
- I made the first short for the shorts channel but I'm thinking of changing the niche on it as it did super bad
- The commentary channel might be getting abandoned tbh, it has good watch time but I can't convert it to subscribers, I might try and rebrand it into a documentary channel or something

One of my big goals is going to be trying to build a community for the programming channel, I definitely see me running a course / paid community down the line for it so I'm going to try and pivot my content towards that.

Honestly the lack of motivation is real and I know I can be doing more. By the end of next week I'm going to try and have another video up on the programming channel and have a video on the rebranded commentary channel.

I know its hard to find motivation, but on YT you cant succeed without grinding every day and posting daily without any motivational numbers.
Its recommended to make 3 channels minimum. Not all of them will succeed.

YT is not only about video and views, it also involves luck. Some channels succeed in first month. Some go up in 6 months.
YT loves regular uploads. Remember that.
Good video length for "usual" channels is 3-8 minutes. For coding its obviously longer but you must know who is your audience and what length of videos is suitable for them.

People who are not interested in long videos will close or never open your video, this will be bad signal for YT and it wont recommend videos to some audience or even remove it from recommendations.

For my programming videos I commentate over them myself and they're all based on python, however I'll probably do tutorials for more languages like c++ soon. I like doing it in this style as I've found that it leads to pretty fast turn around without having to edit much. Right now my biggest problem is with the rebrand on my commentary channel. Ive changed it so its like @trapologist but for some reason I keep getting age restricted and I'm not sure why?

Back from the dead?

After being MIA for over 2 months I'm finally back. All though its kinda a cop out answer I want to attribute my inactivity to the HSC and Trial exams that I had. But guess what? As of Thursday I'm officially done with high school which is awesome!!

So back to the chase. The channel as you expect hasn't have too much love while I've been gone. My upload schedule is monthly at best which really isn't good. I've started to try and do weekly uploads which isn't as good as daily but its something as I still need to grind out my watch time hours. I think the end goal with this channel will be to have a paid community were I can offer some courses, however this is still a very very distant plan. Right now another big focus is trying to add a personality to my channel, I believe that the only way to keep reoccurring viewers is to have a personality, as otherwise you're just another quick fix vid for them.

Now this thread is called "Building a YouTube empire" but you only have one channel? Well suck dick because this shits really hard lol. However, to chace the empire dream I am planning to make a Fortnite channel, now you might be thinking? "Gaming channels in 2024???". But what people dont understand is the monetization options Fortnite has, paired with the consistant updates the game get, I can pureley make a channel about news and blow up fast... I think.

Now I would tell you to stay tuned for next weeks update but we all know that isnt happening <3
