Hi

I bought a new domain name 9 months ago
The domain has history of being linked to "illegal" streaming website and used for the same purpose: short videos and trailers. The website has more than 50k links back and has 0 errors on google SGE. Google indexed around 50k page recently, The website has good content, a clean design and everything is almost perfect
Above 80 on load speed, and the traffic is very low—less than 200 a month from google

While i bought another domain less than 2 months ago, I did the same thing, optimized it, and accepted in Gads. And performs well on Google, despite having fewer links back and new

My question is, should I dump the domain and buy a new one, redirect the old to a new domain, or just keep going?
isn't related to the domain being linked to a pirated website?

thank you for your time.

redirect the old to a new domain
which one is the old domain and which one is the new domain? Based on your explanations the old domain seems the 9 months old (the one in the 1st screenshot), while the new domain seems the 2 months old one (the one in the 2nd screenshot), so are you referring to these 2 domains, or to different ones?

And what are you trying to achieve: rank in google, or buy ads? Because I don't understand why you mentioned the 2 different traffic methods if there's no connection between them. Please be more specific!

Yes the first picture is for the old domain and second is for new domain, I am comparing because , despite putting a lot of work into the old domain, it is not performing well on google
and the second one, i actually didn't do anything aside from submitting articles

i have google AdSense on my old domain, and i'm trying to increase traffic and rank yes in Google
I thought maybe it's related to domain reputation?

So i have two ideas
1. buy a new domain and replace the old one (redirect)
2. Use the new domain under old domain, like a section from it, to boost it

I made the new website just to rank my old website, making articles and linking back to old website

domain reputation is a thing, so you're right here: if the domain has a good / bad reputation with google it will rank / not rank.

However, the 9 months old domain ranks just fine, so its reputation with google is good. I think with more SEO you can improve its ranking, you don't need to 301 this domain because it's been ranking constantly through the numerous updates that google have released this year and at no point did it fall even temporarily. So it's a good domain, I would say focus on it and milk it for all its worth until a future update inevitably tanks it...

While i bought another domain less than 2 months ago, I did the same thing, optimized it, and accepted in Gads. And performs well on Google, despite having fewer links back and new
I don't know what your idea of "performs better" is, but - for me - the domain in the 1st screenshot performs better (more clicks, better CTR, better position in SERPs)... Also, it's well known fact that sometimes google favors sites that buy ads and give them SERP rankings, too (which is why you might feel that the 2nd domain performs better, although I still disagree)

despite putting a lot of work into the old domain, it is not performing well on google
well, that's the problem with google: we must slave our lives away for them to become even richer, that's by design, it's how google keeps naive people like you and me working for them. Plus that there's also a lot of competition in every niche under the Sun, so this doesn't help either...

Last but not least, like I said, the old domain performs better, I genuinely don't understand why you think the other way around...

oh, ok! This clears up the following statement then:
My question is, should I dump the domain and buy a new one, redirect the old to a new domain, or just keep going?

So, to answer this question I'd say keep going. Keep the 2nd domain too since you've already bought it and put a site on it, but focus on domain 1 more since it's in good standings with google. Also, those 50k backlinks that you mentioned are suspicious to me, I've seen sites in the streaming niche ranking with way less backlinks, I would genuinely check those backlinks and do something about them because I have a suspicion that most of them are garbage....

And how many RDs does the 9 months old domain have by the way? Because RDs is more important than backlinks.... Also, do the URLs where those 50k backlinks point to still exist on the site, or are they gone? Because - again - I find it suspicious for a site with 50k backlinks to rank so poorly if those links still exist / are still live / are good, so that's where I would look first.

And one more thing: how many pages does the old site have, and how many of those pages are indexed? The indexed ones, do they have any backlinks pointing to them of those 50k backlinks? Because if they don't... well... that's where you should start SEO-ing first.... And what about the internal links? Internal linking is an important on-page strategy that can really boost your site's position in the SERPs, so have a look at that too and fix accordingly (ie. link relevant pages with other relevant pages within the same silo / category)

I would suggest keep the old domain, the avg position is ok, there seems to be no penalty impressions wise.
Keep adding new content, do proper on-site SEO, get some fresh backlinks.
Adding a lot of backlinks from new domain to old one is not a good idea, few are fine.

Thank you very much for your advice and Time

1: Yes, i have noticed The CTR part and that's why I'm worried. Because the website was performing better than now, the number of clicks is dropping
Correct me if I'm wrong. Check those two graphs below for indexing: old is first, and new is second.

Yes The CTR is high, but it's like Google penalized the website, with only few pages showing up on the search results Despite the number of page Indexed

2: Backlinks mostly come from unrelated Nish (health to entertainment); the source of links are pointing to the domain only (Home page)
Also, Most of the Links come from my own websites

3: internal linking the content has more videos than text, and internal linking is dynamic, more of like similar content only, i don't think it's possible to make internal linking without some sort of automation

4: as for RDs the old domain has 24 from High ADs, and a lot not indexed yet.

5: Just to get a better idea overall and thank you again for your time, the old domain is mostly automated, but I have control over everything (editing); grabbing content from APIs.
The second website based on WordPress. i make articles by myself, they are well optimized, and they get indexed instantly Each article is made around a specific page from old domain
Currently, only 80 articles are on the new website, and around 200 links back to the old website are also well spread on social media.

If only Reddit Bot stopped banning me, I could jump in rank for sure.

Yes i would need to refocus on website seo and keywords
BackLinks are hard, not cheap and require time compared to before

My new website don't have links to old one alone; i also add other domains like Wikipedia. so it doesn't look spammy
Also, i only add 1-2 links back at most in each article

just keep going

just keep going this site will grow and get the traffic on new domain.

well, when you put it in context like this (and also based on the new screenshots)... yeah, I can understand why you say the domain is not performing well (and it's kind of true)

I think part of the problem is the lack of content (ie. wall of text) which googlebot usually feeds on. I think you need to add some descriptions or synopses, or something.

The other part of the problem is only 24 RDs. I understand that they're high authority, but I think it's too few of them when reported to the number of links you have. Oh, and also pointing all / most links to the homepage is not great either.

I always advocate for, and tell people to build most links to the homepage and to the main silo / category pages to build up the overall domain's authority because sites with high authority seem to rank mostly, nowadays. So you do need high authority for your homepage. But I also tell people to build the links in 60-40 or 70-30 ratios (6 links out of 10 to homepage, the other 4 spread out to various important inner pages... or 7 links out of 10 to homepage, 3 to other pages, etc...)

I think you have way too many links pointing to the homepage... or, rather, way too few links pointing to inner pages, and this - when combined with the lack of content - might be why so few pages are ranking. I'm not saying that this is the exact reason, I'm saying it could be the main one based on my experience (it's either a content issue, a backlinks issue, or a mix of both issue)...

Anyway, I can't think of anything else that could be the problem because - again - the graph in the 1st screenshot of your thread looks very good: constant trending over 3 months are very good stats, and the fact that you've lost pages in SERPs when you have over 50k indexes pages tells me that the issue is with the content + backlinks.

Try doing a test: add a few paragraphs (200-300 words) to 10-20 pages of your choosing (but try finding pages that used to rank recently, or which have been lingering around positions 20-30 for weeks) and get the googlebot to those pages and after recrawling check their positions again.

If the positions of those pages improve (eventually help them with 1-2 internal links from relevant pages) you'll know it's mostly a content issue and you can go ahead with adding content to other pages that you think are important and that should be enough to skyrocket you in the SERPs if the content is the issue.

And do this test with backlinks too, but this time try finding pages that rank / used to rank in top 10-20 for weeks but now have dropped. If you manage to find 5-6 such pages and point 2-3 quality links to each one of them and index those links I'm pretty sure the results - whichever they are - will be revealing. If 3 quality links to pages that already rank in top 20 don't improve the rankings by at least 1-2 spots (and this combined with the test for the content pages should give a rough idea what's going on) then you'll know to focus your efforts elsewhere. I still think you shouldn't redirect the site, though... at least not until you get a feel for the reason...
