Taking advantage of onsite SEO

I constantly try to figure out new ways of getting ranked in the top 30 in google for photoshop brushes because that is my niche for my site phatbrush.com

Recently I noticed that I wasn't taking proper advantage of the H1 tag & H2 because they were being used for the wrong words.

I found that my h1 tag was for "Phatbrush" which is not really helpful in any sense so I changed it to phatbrush - Photoshop Brushes

As well as my h2 tag which on my frontpage for some stupid reason was being used for the keyword sponsor (I've since removed it)

My rankings went from 121 > 92 in the serps ranking in 3 days.

I've been wondering if I missed any other spots that I can clean up a bit I recently also made a longer description in the meta tags and fixed a few keywords.

According to my competition I have a lot more backlinks than the sites that are listed from 50+ onwards.

I suggest you to test your site with Internet Bussines Promotor (IBP). This software have nice module inside - TOP 10 optimisation.

It analizes your site, and tell you what to fix on it.. all the things: keyword density, h1,h2 ..tags, meta tags..

Me and many others find this software for very usefull and good for onsite optimisation. I think you can find it in download section.

1. Remove "phatbrush" from your TITLE as well.
2. Below down the page create a link, linking to your own website, with anchor text as "photoshop brushes" without quotes.
3. Since On page SEO wont take you that far, get some relevant High PR links. Be selective, go for quality and not quantity.
4. I would even go and submit Press Release as well.

All this will surely help.

I've also tried adding a lot of text and having it displaced in a div , by using css margin-left:-9999em so it doesn't appear visually but can still be seen by the robot spiders.

And at the same time is not a black hat technique because I'm not hiding or blending the font color to match the background.

That would have worked a lot better in the 90s than it will now. I'd suggest taking a look at this post for your onsite tags:

google is a lot more sophisticated now. using css to hide text might seem a little less obvious than doing same color text and background, but it can still be identified. It's possible to do things like that without getting caught, but its always a risk.

I'm not positive how google looks at them, but a better idea might be to make some mouseover info boxes, or something like that. To keep from looking like your hiding text, you'll still need to make the text look like real content and don't try to hide the mouseover element. It might even be a nice addition to your site design if done right.

Hmm back up to 146 today from previously being at 95 , wow what a pain in the ass. Funny thing is I actually wrote some meaningful stuff , too bad google has a monopoly and we all have to get on our knees to umm

Anyone else have better time getting on Bing or yahoo's top lists , Bing seems kinda random to me as far as indexing goes.
