Religious Pages.

Wow.

Just come across this page yesterday with 8k members called something along the lines of "Muslim and proud" or something.

(This just happened to pop-up on my news feed of a fake account - i'm not muslim) but the owners promoting a free quran, and he posted a status update saying "get your free quran here:"

and like 5 people replied saying "OMG its a virus" bla bla bla. So i downloaded it, and sure enough, it's a virus. I know we shouldn't really be monetizing religion, but is this a good idea?

He's also selling pray mats and some kind of islamic food (I doubt he's getting many sales)...

So i'm wondering whether something like this would work with the new fb roadblock?

Not that i'm planning to hack - never have and don't intend to, but it seems like an interesting idea - the offering of free qurans etc - you could use pay per download or something...

And I've lost the page now (it may be still alive) but I couldnt find it in the fb search box.

No nothing wrong with it. Really theres nothing wrong wit monetizing any niche, but FB wouldnt allow a page like that to stay up too long.

Alright. Thought so, but thought i'd get a second opinion.

I've also noticed pages like this pop up on my news feed on my actual personal account, It seems that although they start off as actual religious pages in the end people just join anyway for a 'laugh' or to mock the religion itself.

Personally, Im not a big fan of religious pages. I mean, its just a classfication. If you have "Muslim and proud", then you might as well have "White and Proud", "Black and proud". I mean, is a facebook page REALLY necessary to show pride in your race, religion, age, or sex. I think they should be for hobbies and interests.
