Hey, just joined the forum, I am wondering if your domain name affects your SEO/ Google search console rank

Not directly. Exact matching was removed by Google a long time ago.

Having said that the domain name is for relevancy for both Google and users when they search for something

Yes, your domain name can influence your website's ranking in search engines, including Google. It can be one of the factors that search algorithms consider when determining the relevance and authority of the site. For instance, keywords in the domain name can help improve its visibility in search queries related to those keywords. However, the impact of the domain name on SEO isn't solely limited to this, as other factors such as content quality, site architecture, backlink profile, and user experience are also important

There are many directory type link opportunities where the link anchor always will be the domain name.

In those cases a keyword domain has the benefit of automatically getting their keywords into the anchor text, even at those many places where you cannot chose your anchor text manually

And you are kinda innocent, because you didn't stuff keywords, so it should be somewhat safe

Yes, domain names impact SEO through keyword relevance, branding, and user trust, influencing search rankings.

It surely has some impact...or do you think a local news website called ''eatmyshit.blog'' will have the same performance as ''lanews.com'' ?

i think a more fair compassion would be lanews.com and lanews.blog , lanews.la who do you think will perform better ? no backlinks no DA/DR no stats just brand new registrations!

Hello, Alpha189. Yes, domain names can affect SEO and Google search rankings. Domain names that are older and have no bad track record usually have some SEO advantage because they may have built up trust and external links. Simple domain names are usually more helpful for user access and are easier to build a brand image and better SEO results. He;ll

While exact match domains are no longer a decisive factor for ranking in the search engines (you can no longer "snipe" the search engines), it still has some weight provided that your content structure and quality is good and relevant, and you have some good backlinks powering up your site. So an exact match type of domain name can help, but the bulk of your focus should be on making your domain strong (with good backlinks) and as well as your website (with good content).
