I'm concerned about WordPress users

Do WordPress users understand programming?

Keep that mindset and it will be more jobs for the rest of us.
What I saw in practice is that they hire a PHP developer with 3+ years of commercial experience and that's actually how it works. The WordPress itself serves only as a tool to upload articles and products by staff.
I just heavily got into programming in WP, and I can say, as a basic user most of my life, I think it's great; you can build so much easy functionality on top of what a robust infrastructure it is.
I just have no idea how people optimize WordPress without any coding skills.

If you got heavily into programming in WP and plugins, there's a little wall of information behind that is unrelated to WordPress.

I'm happy to be able to learn math and physics instead of how WP ecosystem is built which is just a few classes that can be extended.

The base for it is just okay use of object oriented programming. But as usually, most of good stuff is paid and need a help of a developer.

So it's just a marketing gimmick in the end. I can't have any other conclusions seeing all these ends.

I don't have time to spend with coding, I prefer to invest my time in advertisement and promoting my business to make more money

So every code framework is a gimmick then, wordpress is just a framework.
YES. That's right. I got rid of all the frameworks and I coded my own procedure using procedural programming and I quit the object oriented programming for the sake of my own sanity. What I replaced it with is a "workflow" and "work standards" and that's what adults do. They create their own vision and they bring that vision closer to reality with each day without depending on 3rd parties if it stays in the way.

My productivity skyrocketed and my product can do 666 times instead of just 1 time. I need substitution, matrices, I need massive expressions.

Be aware that it's not the cause of increase in productivity. The increased productivity is an effect of control of oneself. If you increase control of yourself, you can increase control of the external world. That's phenomenal.

If creators of Bitcoin were so biased towards fiat money, they'd never make Bitcoin. Money was standing in their way, so they went their own way.

I can get rid of things too.

You don't like something? Take a shotgun and do your thing!

For the same reason you are using frameworks while coding.
Getting the job done is way more important than learning completely useless bloat

Agreed. These days when I see someone saying they have JS experience I wouldn’t be surprised if that amounts to them being a react dev with mediocre typescript skills.

With that in mind, I think WP is a very efficient system and fantastic for what it is and what you get. Doesn’t deserve half the ridicule it gets especially from salty devs.

Word press is a great way to start something without falling into the doom cycle of analysis paralysis, 99% of people making websites would be wasting time learning to code. If you try and do EVERYTHING you will end up doing NOTHING. Work smarter not harder and outsource things you are bad at or don't know so you can focus on what you are good at and bring in profits.

Micromanaging and thinking you can / should do everything in a business is a great way to jerkoff your ego while being broke AF all the time. Time management and learning to delegate tasks to folks with a relevant skillset is way more valuable than learning Java/HTML/CSS in the 2020s IMHO....

No one can do everything and everyone I know that thinks they can are in six figure debt and look 20 years older than they should being delusional, broke and stressed out all the time. Project managers make way more than Web Dev folks do in the "9-5 worker-bee" marketplace for an obvious reason to anyone who has actually started and run a profitable business.

That's my TED talk for the day.

Cheers BHW and happy 4th to my fellow Yanks , drink beer and grill steer.

It's not worth to touch it if you have average goals. You must aim really, really high to find motivation to be an engineer that builds something above average stuff. It's like understanding chemistry, physics and math to be a nice engineer, in terms of complexity, not literally. You just need to be a motivated student and to be a motivated student, you can't aim to make a website. Everyone is aware that websites are very simple on frontend and on the backend it can be even video rendering or game engine.

Other than that, if you work that job you'll also need to take care of your mental health which isn't easy if you sit 20 hours a day straight in front of a flat screen with an illusion it's 3 dimensional. John Carmack says he can handle that, but he claims it's only himself and a lot of people will give up or do a lot less than their more powerful colleagues. Some of those people are obsessed about it and they don't develop any relationships, turn 40 and still have big belly that they couldn't take time to lose for 20 years.

WordPress was always annoying to me cause if you wanted to do something, you had to call a dev or fix it yourself. If you had no coding skills and started coding it, you'd just break it and have to call a dev to fix it. It was always like this. So due to my irritation with the fact I can't control jackshit in it, I just dropped this solution and started digging deeper. I found all frameworks / CMS are basically the same thing. If you want to build a lot, you will need to pay bucks. If you want something like 1000 sites printed in 1 click / according to schedule, that's impossible and that's probably one of motivations to learn engineering. It's a lot stronger motivation to build something big than code few animated websites.

end of the day
I just want to save my time , have peace of mind and get some money

This is a definition of every person from a poor family. Not that you can fix the situation by telling people to not code. People from poor families have poor social / communication skills or they have mental health problems that they developed when they were growing. Blaming their career choice for that is a mistake.
programming is boring
Yeah, it is like math. If you can build 1000 buildings in a month, the tool you used for that now seems impressive.

I suppose that WordPress users use it because they can't write a for loop and understand what a function is.

Is it wrong or not?

Otherwise, if you use WordPress and you can create a program that makes sense, why do you use it?
Why to use WordPress if I know coding?

Even a super coder with 25 years of experience would be poor if he does not know how to sell his shit.
The same number of years that I almost have, and I'm still poor lol

Bot makers are in a trap.
They think there is some combination of websites, videos, text that can cheat the big brother.
Nope. We don't know how they detect that, but even with very high entropy they see what we do.

And what is the problem? Sales?
I am a contemporary martyr who will code OpenGL and C++ for free for the rest of his days. I am a Jesus descendant.

And my method is uhm, it's called uhm... Google/Slave(Reaaski) method.

There are a combination bro.
Website - for sales
Videos - Preview - Demo
Everyone want to see what they are paying for.

mainly yes, sales. But it’s not about products , because product it’s fine , I think it’s more about the engagement and marketing, maybe a good marketing campaign can help me reach the audience that I’m looking for

So either take some time and learn it or make a JV somehow with a marketing wizard here on the forum. Maybe exchange time with each other in some way.

i use wordpress pretty much for all of the websites,
i know and can code in several languages but nothing advanced,

you question is pretty much as asking if most drivers have mechanical knowledge,
is it required? no for most cases,
it it helpful? yes, that would help you to audit, make specific changes, optimize performance, fix most of the problems, etc...

Yeah, my logic is that if I became a mechanic as a driver, then everyone else will do the same at one point inspired by cars.

That logic is fcking crazy and could only happen after 96 hours of screen time and sleep included.

I know a bit of coding and understand for loop and other loops as well. But why reinvent the wheel? Especially when you know it'll unnecessarily cost you time and resources that could be spent growing your project.

If a solution for a problem has been discovered it makes no sense seeking for another solution for the very same problem, when you could dedicate that time to solving more problems.
