So, 2 weeks ago, a washing machine i had owned since 2018
a HOTPOINT machine developed a door fault known as F06.

so i contact Hotpoint to ask about a door repair for my model,
they say we cant fix it as the model you have is on RECALL since
2019 for a known door fault that COULD catch fire.

they tell me, un plug your machine - we will take it away for free
and give you a new washing machine free, even though the 1 i had
was 6 yrs old. this was my replacement so far so good.

the Hotpoint engineers show up in a truck - they remove my
old faulty recall machine and plumb in the above FREE new one.
still so far so good ----but for proxygo things are never easy.

in my kitchen i have a glass top cooker with 4 glass hot plates
which is very close to where my cooker is, now when im not using
my cooker, i keep a towel on it to keep the glass clean from my cats paw
prints from being all over it.

while the engineer was plumbing in my new washing machine he accidentally
backed into my cooker turning on 1 of the hot plates without knowing.
within 2-3 mins my kitchen / living room / bathroom / bedroom where
engulfed in thick smoke - the engineer grabs the burning smoking towel
and chucks it at me.

Remember after 2020 i have a manageable heart problem caused by a heart attack,
so last thing i need is a face full of smoke chucked at me , i toss the burning smoking
towel into the toilet and run outside with my fire alarm blaring coughing
and spluttering ---- im sure some one up stairs doesnt like me

i reported the incident to hotpoint .

already filed a insurance claim with hotpoint - luckily nothing is damaged
other than the place reeks / skinks of smoke

Safety measurements weren't taken and there was no proper environment setup for the worker. Lesson for us is to not put some stuff around and hide it if someone might accidentally hit it.

I'm glad you weren't hurt. I think you can make a claim against them.

Why did he throw the towel at you though?

yeh i didnt think about that until this morning - he was within 3ft
of my kitchen sink, yet grabbed the smoking towel and threw it at me
standing in the door way of my kitchen, which mean i had to
run to my bathroom to put it out.

thats good business from hotpoint, replace faulty machine, then just burn down the house
next time when they come stay with the fire extinguisher in your arms

that made me laugh

I could feel this incident as I experience such one in the last year.. Cooker was burst due to high pressure, and the rice were scattered all around the wall and ceiling. Luckily my mom wasnt in kitchen. I had to repaint the whole kitchen and complete the dinner in a Hotel..

Modern homo sapiens problems. 300 years ago we had no electricity.
And what I noticed, over-dependence on other people.

If we were all engineers, we would not have to ask for trust fund, depend on incompetent people and stuff like that.
