Bypass Domain Privacy?

Someone just went out and bought the exact ".com" name (VERY RARE name) of a female fitness model client of mine.

I want to contact the owner of the domain name but its registered privately.

Is there any way to bypass this and find out who actually bought the domain?


I wonder if there is a way to even force that person to give it back as the name is her "Brand", she does business with that name it its a VERY unique name to begin with.

There is usually an email address if you check whois. That is forwarded to the owner, try that.

from what I have seen...the trick is you email the private whois email given...and mark it as "priority mail". Once the person opens the email, it automatically sends back a return saying they received it..from the real email address. This happened to me so I believe it works...prolly depends on what email client they are using etc

If the webhost is using a third party service to proxy the domain then I would recommend contacting the company that does the privacy of the whois info, and do a little bit of "social engineering" stating that they are violating their ToS with the web host, and you are threatening legal action.. they fold pretty quick when you throw the legal card, it works for all of the time lol..

If the name is trademarked you can email them a cease and desist letter. If that doesn't work you can try contacting their host and registrar. If that doesn't work you can open up a case with http://www.wipo.int/ . If they rule in your favor they will give you the domain.

Yeah, this is lawyer territory. Any communication you do with the individual in question can only harm your case.

If you know the resigtrar like moniker.com you can ask the company you have 100.000$ to bid the domain and you urgently need to reach owner. They will help . I know they reached me because one of 4 letter generic domain i own . Also domain lawyer can legally each via icann or directly to the registrar company to handle the job.

Easier method might be checking domaintool's historical record to see if the owner didn't always have privacy on. If you don't have an account there you can pm me the domain name and I'll look it up.

ive always wondered about this for domains regs that will put the whois on AFTER the domain is regged...like you have to request it sometimes.

how long does it take to index a persons info? right away?

depends. Domaintools seems to mostly only "index" when someone performs a lookup on the domain. So if I perform a check on the whois through domaintools.com ... they save the information.
