What are the potential risks of using black hat SEO techniques?

Using black hat SEO can lead to penalties, rankings loss, reputation damage, legal consequences, and short-term gains with long-term losses.

Nothing is wrong when it is within the acceptable limit.

BH techniques with expertise and knowledge of how to use it for a website will not affect anything.

Crossing the limits and expecting very quick results will get your site deindexed from Google as the worst.

There's a lot of FUD being posted in this thread!

Any website has the potential of being dropped by Google, whether they use 'black hat seo techniques' or not. Link building goes against Google's guidelines, meaning it's technically a black hat seo technique. Are you all saying that we should stop building links?

I doubt it.

Black hat SEO may provide short-term gains but in the long run, it will harm the website's reputation and credibility, affecting its visibility and traffic.

you can get jailed for breaking trademark laws (and only if the trademark holder sues you), I didn't say anywhere that you'll get jailed if you do blackhat, please don't put words in my mouth!

If you do blackhat (which you should if you wish to rank in google), the worst that can happen is getting deindexed and losing your revenue stream. That's what I said in my reply, there's nothing to elaborate as it's self-explanatory :)

One of the obvious examples is using bots or real people to click your competitors' ads and drain their ad budget OR to trick AdSense into paying you for views of ads on your website attained in a similar way
