So I have another channel that kind of blew up and got monetized within a month. I've been monetized since January 15, but it seems like my RPM is really low. I was expecting it to be more on the $4-$5 side, but currently the RPM is around $1-$1.50 since the date the channel has been monetized. Most of my videos are 5 minutes long because it's really hard to drag them out to 8 minutes or more for midrolls without hurting retention in this niche. I have 1 video at 8 minutes but the RPM increased only to around $1.80. Here are some channel stats:
Niche is about people.
All tier 1 countries, starting from Australia, New Zealand then USA, Canada, Germany etc.
Most watchers are over 30 years old or older.
AVD is around 50% or more on the channel.
200k views in a month or two.
I know January is a bad month for adsense, but will I be able to see increases up to at least $4-$5 within the coming months or are the increases usually lower than that? Do ads optimize over the months for a newly monetized channel or is this the RPM I should be expecting for this channel? Also, I know most bigger channels make a lot of their income from sponsorships but I am certain this is the type of channel that probably won't get much sponsorships. If I'm not going to be pulling in at least 4-5 RPM I will have to sell this channel or look into Patreon and see if I can monetize that way.
