What term or phrase do you reckon they're going to come out with to describe the act of parasite SEO? Admittedly it's a bit of a visceral term, and I've seen some whitehatters use 'barnacle SEO' to make it seem less invasive. What would be a Google-sanitised version?

Involuntary Partnership? Authority Poaching? Hanger-on Marketing?

Yeah, this is exactly what change.org and reddit has been already doing with their do-follow no-follow strategy. Infact change.org now goes straight no-index with their non-approved content. They are ahead of Mr.G or have privileged info.

'Third-Party Content'

From that screenshot, is Google recommending that webmasters block third-party content from getting indexed?

Is there any punishment for not adhering to that?

  • Barnacle SEO
  • Piggyback SEO
  • Authority Hijacking
  • Third-Party SEO
  • Symbiotic SEO
  • Coattail SEO
  • Monopolizing SEO
even tho i like the term "parasite seo"

its accurate.

It's 'Site Reputation Abuse' according to Google now...

I still prefer 'Involuntary Partnership' :)

just a general question...

im in the seo game since about 2010.

back then every seo was basically doing parasite when using the autority of wordpress.com, blogspot.com and other web 2.0 platforms. even social bookmarking - isnt it also a parasite kind of using others autority?

and if we dig just a little deeper... and keep it real...

isnt seo really a parasistic game?

isnt every seo kind of a parasite, because we are all trying to get our piece of google's cake?

And do webmasters, bloggers and all of them really have another chance of "getting seen and heard", but turn into parasites?

If we try to get traffic over seo, paid ads or social media - arent we always parasites trying to get a little bit of something from an autority host?

imo you cant do seo without being a parasite.

you can wear a black hat or a white hat (even tho this discussion is worthless)

you still a parasite.

trying to take a little bit of traffic away from google

for your own needs.

to survive.

we all gotta eat.

Yeah, I said that.

Every form of SEO is abuse according to webmaster guidelines.

Buying a domain for ranking it on search engine is already aimed to abuse their search engine. It's abuse.

Organic means you would build a website Independent from Google and never think about it, then rank. Well, it's just their manipulation.

For some fcking reason they don't mind if you make YouTube videos to rank on YouTube. It's crazy how they think.

But I believe search engine has a different purpose than YouTube.

Who is a parasite now? Google.

Look, Google ads, Reddit, Quora. These are false information spread under billions of queries. They should be sued.

And when I search for something, I get the right answer 1 in 40 times. It's overloaded with bs, complex information nobody ever asked for except they themselves.

Their mission now is to increase dwell time on Reddit and Quora, so you bounce between two of these sites (google serps and reddit / quora) and never get satisifed hence your chances of clicking an ad increase

I'm not ranking sites as it's unprofitable for me but I use their search engine everyday, so that's my USER PERSPECTIVE.

Absolutely. Thanks for taking your time for the response.

Guess we better keep taking advantage before they really clamp down it
