[Announcement] Introducing: The New BHW

Which theme are using at the moment, out of curiosity?
I use both.
The contrast isn't big enough despite of already using close to white and close to black colors.

I think that what someone else mentioned -- taking at stackoverflow light and dark themes for example would be good.

Threads in the Marketplace don't seem to get bumped correctly. Mine is currently on page five of the content section, but the most recent post was 13 hours ago. Just going down the list of threads shows a lot of inconsistencies in their display order.

In my opinion white theme should not exist:
1. Destroying BSTs and signatures, that's why I was not using old theme. Most of people not aware it exist and prepare their threads for black one
2. Team have more time to focus and polish black theme. No compromise

I have some problem and I wanna know if anyone also notices it. I can't copy the link to my post.

After waking up the team, who do they think they are wanting more than 3 hours sleep anyway!

We have gone through the constructive feedback, a big thanks to those that provided their suggestions and reasoning behind it rather than just opinions that often had others sharing the opposite opinions. Some of the items on the list raised the discussion around "how did we miss that".

That overall made our lives easier to make choices on what was more important to the community. We then balanced this list with what we can do quickly to make the biggest positive effect the quickest. Some changes were quite complicated and time consuming but offered the biggest benefit (font size for instance), some were of course easier. We aren't stopping working on this so please continue to provide feedback and suggestions. If it gets suggested we look at it but it doesn't necessarily mean it makes the top of the list.

With that said here are the changes to be deployed shortly in no particular order

1. The font size is increasing in the posts, thread titles and input boxes

2. The collapse of the forums has been implemented

3. More space between the bottom add and the breadcrumb

4. The page navigation has been added to the top of the page in mobile view

5. Many minor fixes we have seen ourselves during this latest phase

The New BlackHat World

Don't worry, this isn't another https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/01-01-24-introducing-the-new-black-hat-world.1585341/.

We've been listening, and after reviewing years of feedback for https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/what-would-you-like-to-see-on-the-forum.1393473/post-17584830, or even a "https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/what-would-you-like-to-see-on-the-forum.1393473/page-9#post-16162173" theme as one of you described; we're finally ready to release a completely re-designed and re-imagined BlackHat World.

Are you ready?

----------The Dark Theme: Re-Designed----------

Stylish and efficient.

It's been known for years now that BHW's colour scheme was meant to be "black and gold", but the black and yellow bumblebee look of yesteryear took precedence.

Not anymore! With a dark, https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/bhw-new-theme.939264/#post-10033108 https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/forum-desing-is-too-black-my-eyes-getting-tired.361773/ background colour that's easy on the eyes, coupled with the soft golden yellow of the text; you can now browse BlackHat World with the confidence that your friends and family won't think you're on a site that's a little more sultry, if you catch my drift.

But it's more than just a simple colour change. The new dark theme's layout takes advantage of that formerly unutilised empty space from before. We'll give you a quick example: do you see the old user boxes that accompany every post?

That entire image was the user box, including the space between. All of that wasted screen real-estate.

But now, we have a more compact layout for user information. As you can see, member information is easy to view in one central location on each post. There's even a new "pill" feature to highlight a member's user colour status.
With this new compact layout, we're now able to dedicate more of the page to the content you post rather than the void it was before.

This means you'll be able to see more content per page in a way that still gives some attention to the individual poster. After all, the user who posts the content is just as important as the content itself.

----------The Light Theme: Re-Imagined----------

The light theme, formerly known as the white theme, has been a source of contention between users for well over a decade. But no longer; this is a gap we needed to bridge.

In order to properly develop a light theme for BlackHat World, we had to find a way to encapsulate that expected darkness of the community in a way that doesn't make it feel like "White Hat World".

This is where you can see the talent of the developers combined with the feedback of the community really shines through. The rich, white chocolatey colouration has a creamy feel to it that's delicious enough to eat; yet is still easy on the eyes.

Naturally, we took the opportunity to re-review design elements that you, the community, have been pointing out for years.

----------A New Logo----------
By now, you've surely noticed that the logo has changed.

Look, there's no denying that the old logo was iconic. In fact, it was the only BHW logo I had ever known having been a member here for over a decade. But we are pleased to unveil this new logo for BlackHat World as this redesign features a modern look with bold colours and clean lines; a look that we feel represents a significant update to our brand identity. Essentially, this new logo communicates who we are today and marks a new chapter for BlackHat World.

FAQ
1. Why was the colour palette changed?

2. Is there an option to revert back to the old theme?

3. Why isn't the reaction score displayed now?

4. Is this a Xenforo theme?

5. Is the website URL display coming back?

6. Can we vote on the changes?

7. Why was the favicon changed?

8. Why is there no poll?

This is really good

a few things i would note.
- its hard to tell if a user is banned or not when highlighting their name.
used to be greyed out, now its a small line
- its hard to see who is newbie, junior or senior
all the same colour
- vip and name the same colour
would be nice for abit of mix there
- comment profile area
ould be nice to have "lest online" time showing and maybe some badges(ie. over 5 years, sales thread, etc)

I like the new Theme, dark & white. But. The Gold color is too bright and too dark, depending on Theme. Its especially noticeable when browsing Threads on Homepage or in Sub-forum. I have a hard time telling what Threads I've read and not.

On dark theme, the "Gold" color is too dark.
On white theme, the "Gold" color is too bright.

A suggestion:

and please give the heart reaction button too :)

After waking up the team

who do they think they are wanting more than 3 hours sleep anyway!
I say, 2 hours sleep every 2 days.
Sounds pretty fair trade for our near-blind eyes
5. Many minor fixes we have seen ourselves during this latest phase
Thank you :)

Any chance, we can keep the On-Hover Color scheme the same/consistent?

We have color ranging from light brown to dark brown to Red and even dark red
:(

Save button red is #934949 while the normal red is #a02e2e
