This is revenue, not profit. Reddit earned $199.8M from US and $43.2M from rest of the world. So, most of their revenue comes from US alone. Despite increased user engagement and increase in ad revenue, the company still had $575.1M net loss. If they don't focus on international markets, they may not sustain for long.

There would be some big players here that would give them good competition in terms of profit. There was a post here who said that he made $8000 per month profit alone. So, all members combined here might be making more than yearly profit of reddit. Lol

Dont get me wrong I do not support reddit moderators at all if anything I highly dislike them (those average mods, not the ones who actually provide some value or earn $)

It is just mind baffling to me how and why would anyone do such thing for free with no other benefit except some minor feeling of power.
You cant really earn much if you follow all the rules as a mod on reddit and you are not getting paid at all, they are really putting in hours of moderation for minor validation its crazy to me.

But yeah basically you are right, there will be always someone who would do it for free.

Moderators of subreddits representing countries get paid for political campaigns and biased reporting. Reddit never bothered about it. There is no quality control and no support. So, majority of the world considers reddit as a propaganda tool. That's the reason they hardly has any income outside US. Their income from rest of the world is less than 1/4th of that of US. They're just selling data to Google to compensate the losses.
